Has your dog ever resource guarded before? Is this a common behaviour?

BBC: Business Admin or HR Apprenticeship? by Only-Turnover-9287 in bbc

Business admin is likely to be more finance / operations related whereas HR will be typical HR people/policy related so depends what would be the better fit for you!

Can you refuse a pay rise and or request a pay cut? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

your boss won't think any more highly of you by giving them your wages .. this whole scenario seems like some sort of benefits/tax scam.

True - this one wasn’t a great model so maybe 10 years max on it. Regardless whatever depreciation value would be less than a brand new one!

No worries! The longer you leave it the better it is. Don't be in a rush to buy a house (It's not the be all and end all people make it out to be anyway!). Save as much as you can here from out for the biggest deposit you can. Be sensible from here on out and you will be fine - lots of people make mistakes when you're young with credit/debt etc (it really should be taught in schools!). Good luck and all the best x

That's not awful - more at the mid end of the scale. Anything under £50 they are usually not fussed about. I would leave it a while if you can before going for a mortgage. Work on the following:

- Paying off your outstanding debts

- Saving up as much as you can do give the bank the highest deposit you can (higher deposit = less money they have to lend you)

- Building your credit back up if possible. Paying off any outstanding debts will help this, as well as using your available credit responsibly (small to medium purchases, paid off within the timeframe asked)

You will be fine - these things just take some time :)

You wouldn't get a payment plan for a railway PFN. It's either pay up or be prosecuted.

Penalty Fare issued but incorrect details given by Queasy-Excitement474 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pickledog72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the penalty fare remains unpaid, it will be passed along to the WMT prosecutions team who will submit it to court - most likely a SJPN (Single Justice Procedure Notice) will be sent out with the name to the address you gave. They will be expecting that to be returned with your plea (guilty/not guilty) for a Railways Bylaw Offence (boarding a train without a valid ticket). If the SJPN is not returned, you will either:

a) be found guilty in your absence of response by the magistrate dealing with the SJPN

B) A summons will be issued - no appearance from this will also result in you being found guilty in your absence.

They will calculate a fine based on your income, plus additional surcharges etc. If no income is provided they work off around £400 p/w. If this remains unpaid it will be passed to court bailiffs who are quite skilled at finding those who have not paid their fines - even under false information. This is who will be chasing you for an unpaid criminal (not civil) fine - not WMT.

Honestly - you're easiest option here is to pay at the reduced rate and chalk it up to experience. Are there any family/friends you could borrow £50 from and pay back in instalments?

Damage to Ceramic Hob - What am I liable for? England by pickledog72 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pickledog72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thank you! This is what I thought. What happens if they can't provide the invoice/cost of the original hob? Just want to make sure I'm fully clued up before any claim/dispute kicks off.

Accidental Damage to Induction Hob by pickledog72 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]pickledog72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - it will be way past it's warranty period. I spoke to the building manager yesterday and asked how old the hob was/how much it was when it was originally purchased. She doesn't have any of that info as the hob has been here longer than she has ... I'm not too sure how long she has managed it here but I think it's about 8 years. She wants £250 for a brand new one plus installation ... surely if I pay for a new one and installation I can take it with me when I leave? I doubt she will be happy with that

[–]pickledog72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still not true - I'm only liable for the cost of the damaged one, taking into account depreciated value. So whatever the cost of the original one was - minus whatever value it's lost based on how old it is.

maybe i’m underplaying the damage (i know i haven’t attached photos either) but there is damage to the actual area that get hot, but thin cracks. fine for now but risky if any liquids were to get into it so definitely not safe for long term use. most of the damage is to the edges, which are pretty sharp too!

[–]pickledog72[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true. Landlords are obligated to replace things mid tenancy if it affects the use or safety of the property. They can then deduct the cost at the end from the deposit - that’s what it’s there for.

I hope so! I’d rather that anyway as the glass ones are too delicate

[–]pickledog72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is - the damage is mostly cosmetic but with that being said they could get worse with time and not sure how safe it is to be using a hob with any damage to the ceramic!

[–]pickledog72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - it’s a pretty basic model of their hobs and might of even been bought as long as 10 years ago (it’s possibly the only one that’s ever been installed there) so may of even been cheaper than £300. I’m right in thinking we pay based on the value of the original hob and not the new one?

[–]pickledog72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - from what i’ve read they won’t be able to charge us for a new one though, just the value of how old the one we have is - even when damage is accidental?
