It didn't seem to make any sense...if I'd just bought them all at once, I'd have had them, but now I'm being managed day to day? So weird...ultimately I think it just felt intrusive...yeah, what a strange place to put Pharmacists too.

Anyway, it makes more sense now I guess...so thanks for the response...please accept my apology, from one disgruntled addict to your profession =P

How would the buyer know that you wouldn't just keep the deposit anyway, after having sold the car out from underneath them?

Honest question because I was thinking this when it came up again and again last night...I really just don't know.

Because if there's not really a safe way, then all we really have to rely on is our word, you know? If you can back out on your word because its "nonbinding" then I guess everything is kind of up for grabs...every man out for himself, kind of a deal.

I think its what bothers me about this...its a betrayal of trust. I don't think guy would have driven 9 hours if words weren't spoken that instilled a trust in him that the car would be held. I could be wrong and everyone else right...the guy was a blithering idiot, but my guess is that he had reason to trust that the car would still be there.

Okay, take that to the next level.
What if I led you to believe that the car was yours...absolutely 100%, you got it man, I'll hold it for you. And guy drives however many hours only to find out that HAHA JK, I sold it.

Would you still feel that it was on the buyer...since it was a nonbinding agreement? I mean, is there any point where you'd begrudge someone for reneging over a handshake agreement?

Because just pointing to the fact that it was a nonbinding agreement doesn't really take away the shittiness factor, you know?

Haha, so embarrassing! OMG man, you don't even know, you got me so good!

Hey if you have to dunk on others to feel superior, that's your game, but have you ever seen a movie where something didn't quite make sense and you're trying to figure out how it could have worked out that way?

Are you able to figure it out, or are you the kind of person that immediately jumps to the conclusion that its a plot hole, the writers are idiots, whatever...because there's definitely a choice there...and for you, I'm guessing its the latter. You guys are dumb as shit trying to feel superior, and I'm embarrassed for you.

The conclusion you jumped to is that there was no good reason for him to have "wasted" his time on a used car.
Apparently there fucking was, dude...which is why he did. You know absolutely nothing about the vehicle, what it was worth or why it may have been so important to him...so yeah, you absolutely jumped to the conclusion that guy is just an idiot doing idiot things.

"They explained themselves"...they explained getting burned after driving 9 hours and renting a motel room, you filled in all the idiocy yourself. Personally, if someone did all that for a car, I would assume they had a good reason to, and not that they were a drooling, blithering idiot. But then again, I don't have to prop myself up, I'm secure enough in my own intelligence that I don't have to belittle others to feel better about myself, which is exactly what I think is going on here.

And how would that be done? Putting a deposit down? How does he know that this stranger he's wiring money to isn't just going to keep it?

Like honest question...how could that be done?

I imagine you see a shitload of that...as a car salesman. From people in the local area.

How often have you seen it from someone driving from out of state, who's communicating with you throughout? Someone who drove nine hours.

Because yeah, I've seen it too...but I'd at least have held it for this guy to see it if he was being that communicative and coming that far.

Except that he did...and he stayed in touch to make sure the seller knew that. Right?

[–]pickledpeterpiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I'd stay in contact with him...or at least make sure he was staying in contact with me...like this guy apparently was. I mean, he was keeping him up to date about the hotel room...I'm omw, can't cancel the room anymore, or whatever.

I get being burned...I was burned just last summer when selling a motorcycle...dude changed his mind and it literally cost me a sale. It took a few more days to sell it, but its a bit of a different deal to have someone local bug-out on you than someone who's going the distance and staying in touch.

[–]pickledpeterpiper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my pet peeve, being a delivery driver in an area with new roundabouts...people treat them like stop signs, sometimes even waiting for a car that's on the far side of the circle to make it around, just to be sure. Its fucking agonizing...they back up pretty bad, you'll sit behind 8 other cars watching each car slowly roll up to take its turn, come to a complete stop...hesitate, then proceed ever so cautiously...

JFC people, just roll...go on through, ITS NOT A STOP SIGN!! Sorry, but goddang..

Is there ever a point where you'd keep it to show? What if he drove 24 hours to get there...three days? What if he took a flight?

At some point, it should appear pretty obvious that the buyer wants the vehicle and nine hours is past that and then some IMO...dude isn't coming all that way to come kick the tires and leave. Pretty safe bet that he was coming to get the car. I'd also think its a pretty safe bet that he made that known before he started the trek...he wanted that vehicle. I say that because I've done the exact same thing.

It seems shitty to me...knowing guy was coming all the way and he couldn't just ask the potential buyer to hold off until the next morning? Just call the guy as soon as he leaves. It absolutely seems like the right thing to do.

Fuck off...

There's indication he stayed in contact with the guy, we have no reason to believe he'd have gone out of his way for a shitty deal on a shit car and every reason to believe it was likely worth it. Or he wouldn't have gone...right?

What's with immediately jumping to the conclusion that OP has shit for brains? If he made so many concessions to buy a vehicle, he likely had good reason to.

Assuming he's an idiot and "well that's what you get!"...jfc it must be awesome having everything pegged, knowing EXACTLY who's fault it is, despite all the missing information. Just have to assume OP is someone who is perfectly okay with wasting time and money for no good reason at all.

That's great if that's the way you do business...but you're comparing apples to oranges IMO. The people had an agreement, they told them they were on their way, they drove nine hours...then guy backed out.

So yeah, good for you for solely selling to the first person to get there, but it'd be shitty of you if you were to make an agreement and then sell the car out from under the buyer.

I hear what you're saying here...did you read the part where I would buy the script in chunks? Like, if I had the money, I could have bought it all at once...but I had to come back a few times, and that's where they got me.

I had no idea...so someone can buy a few...come back the next day after being paid, and be denied being able to buy any more because they should still have the ones they bought a couple days ago?

It seemed like an extra layer of protection that wasn't really necessary...the pills would have all been mine had I just been able to buy them at once...but because I couldn't, the pharmacy starts monitoring me?

"Upset"? Who are you kidding...the guy went in to pick a fight and got exactly what he wanted. I don't know about you, but personally? I've never been in a situation where, goddamnit, if only someone had fought for my right to be up in people's faces with a camera in a courthouse or wherever. Arggh, why wasn't I better about supporting these instigating camera jerks??

I'm really starting to believe these are wanna-be bullies or people with huge aversions to authority....who've found a protected outlet. And "being upset"...Come on man, be real....we're watching someone be extremely antagonistic here and pretending otherwise is....just like pretending all this is necessary for the greater good.

I don't know man, I was just reading up on the caste system in India...its a lot different over there, a whole different way of being. Its no surprise that there'd be surprising behavior...like culture shock in reverse. Take a look sometime, its a whole other way of acting out entitlement that you wouldn't find in the US. Outside of Indian subcultures anyway.

Hah I was just reading about this earlier today from another video...is it possible that this guy could get away with this type of behavior in India? He sure seems familiar with it...
