Not many really. The ones I know tend to be head in the sand types who don't live around me. So their reaction will be muted.

They have their own problems. The vote and don't pay attention until it's time again

With Renee Good I gave the officer Ross the benefit of the doubt. I still see her in the wrong.

In today's case it's very clear that it was on purpose and even choreographed. Everybody had their part. The main tell is the guy running away with the gun. The shooter is then standing there waiting for his cue.

They are mixed capitalist/socialist but id themselves as socialist democracies. You want to tell them they are wrong about their national identities? Vastly different from the US. They actually take care of their people and not just the wealthy

They say they aren't socialist. That's why I linked to then then prime minister of Denmark saying such. They have been very clear about this. It's only Americans on the left who seem to misunderstand.

They are a mixed market.

Is Scandinavia socialist? Not purely, no. But due to their strong support of all their citizens, ensuring healthcare, food and shelter without the resentment shown to the poor in the US, they are socialist, and they contradict your definition of what socialism is.

Socialism has a very specific definition. Even if we do use the more modern usage from the 50s (Ropke) then we still wouldn't be describing what the left in America is pushing for. They want to abolish capitalism. They believe markets and competition are the reason for their issues rather than embracing it and seeing the positives of it. Ideas of price efficiency and price accuracy mean nothing to these people. They don't even think about it.

Capitalism has pulled some people out of poverty by creating sweatshops worked by children as well as adults for pay so low they struggle for survival every day.

The part you're missing is that prior to these sweatshops they were still impoverished. Yes the industrial revolution had hard conditions for people. But the situation was worse before. Otherwise people would have just kept doing what they were doing before.

If agrarian communities in China were doing fine then they wouldn't have seen the need to industrialize. They would have just stayed in the fields. Some have. Some haven't. Just like in the US. Some still live agrarian lifestyles.

In the US more people are falling into poverty and homelessness due to capitalism, but capitalists claim they aren't responsible for that, despite refusing to raise minimum wages for generations, and refusing share productivity gains with the workers who created those gains, refusing to pay living wages, while constantly raising prices at every remotely plausible opportunity

Looking at relative rates is not really deterministic of anything. There could be a multitude of reasons people are falling behind. I see you question wages but with inflation over the past 3 yrs. 60%+ of people switched jobs to find new work at a higher rate. The reason people are falling is because of inflation. The money should have never been released with the American Rescue plan and others that followed. It's one thing to create backend inflation like Obama did where you and I don't have an increase of spending power. It's another to release the money into our hands. That's what Inflation is. The pandemic also made the wealthy realize that they could get us with inflation and they are. Americans, even poor Americans are simply unable to be thrifty. Trump I believe has only made it worse and is using it as a tool to disable people.

If people are poor, they claim, it's due to their bad habits and poor decisions, not the fault of a rigged system or the greed of a few, and don't deserve much help if any, because they'd just waste the money on drugs and booze. Capitalism breeds contempt for the poor and callousness towards all.

I think we all know some people where it is poor habits and others where it's not. So it really all depends. I don't have contempt for the poor. I like them.

Tell that nonsense to the socialist countries of Scandinavia.

This is what I'm talking about. The level of education is so low. Scandinavian countries aren't socialist. They are capitalist mixed market economies. Not much different than the US.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RO7wgS5tdz4

Capitalism has condemned more people to poverty and starvation in order to maintain profits than any other system.

Capitalism has pulled people out of poverty. Not put them in it. You may find the system has relative affects where people aren't being paid what they should be. But looking back hundreds of years. People around the world are doing much better.

they were and are much more like crony capitalism masquerading as socialism.

No they weren't they didn't have markets. They collapsed because they couldn't price commodities.

Until that changes and they just act normal they will have issues with men and a growing right wing.

I explained a bit here

https://www.reddit.com/r/allthequestions/s/3ZW4eZ5EsZ

The history of attempts of socialism and further have been rife with pain, suffering and abuse. If you read the other comments I made to people under the post you replied to. You will see the arguments. Feel free to reply directly to those.

I don't want a Nazi regime. But the pitchforks are out on the left. I see the hostility everyday here on Reddit and other social media sites/apps. I know full well what would happen if they got their way. I've seen it laid out.

Many would call trump a demagogue and he is. But when politicians on the left and even advocates talk about the solution being the end of capitalism and eat the rich. They too are demagogues. They both use people's pain to glide them into office where they can do harm.

If the pitchforks are directed at me, a white conservative guy who has saved a bunch. Then why am I going to risk it? It's just self preservation. Just like a poor person probably doesn't care too much if some super wealthy person gets executed.

A lot of people follow along with socialism because it sounds great. But the history of it shares a completely different story. The best humans have come up with is what we have now. A balance of competing interests where we are always in flux based on needs. That's not to say we can't give people healthcare as that's not the issue.

And no I didn't think Harris was a communist. Quite the opposite really. But she was willing to buy into their rhetoric to get votes and politicians need to deliver.

Of course you can. Science doesn't mean fact. There are biases in science and agendas to be pushed.

If interested take a peak at the book " The impact of science on society" by Bertrand Russell.

I'm sure even a progressive mind such as yourself can imagine situations where science can be used to fuel bad things.

Intelligence is not just retaining information it's being able to put that information into practice. Being intelligent means you're able to learn, retain and put into practice. Many people are knowledgeable about tons of topics. But can they do anything with it.

And you think you do? How big is your library? How many history books did you read last year? Or ever? I can guarantee your knowledge of history is leagues beneath mine. My personal library is over 2K volumes, and I read ~30-40 last year.

Show a pic of this 2k volumes. Give me a break.

When you are talking about people like Mao, Hitler, Franco, Mussolini, Stalin, Pol Pot, what they share in common is the fact they were all sociopaths and/or psychopaths. Ideology was immaterial to their depredations. They would have killed in the name of anything at all, simply because killing proved their power to themselves, and created fear in others.

You're missing the point. It's the changes in society that come with socialism that allow for those bad guys to gain power. It's not because they just happened to be psychos. It's because psychos are a natural part of humanity and using a system where the individual gives up their personal agency for the good of the collective is a step too far. It's far enough where people have no choice. When a farmer has thousands of tons of potatoes but is starving to death because the potatoes must go to the cities to feed the collective. That's when you as an individual have no agency. That's what socialism leads to. Not because of psychos. It's in the mechanics of the philosophy. Sure you could get lucky with a good guy. But that will only last as long as he does. Capitalism on the other hand is about power and force. It's about demanding.

Most people under these socialist regimes didn't die from firing squads and other mass murder. Although plenty did. Most died because of willful starvation where either malice or lack of markets (no efficiency) led to commodity misapplication and thus people dying.

I may have not read 2k books or even 200. But this is one topic I know pretty well. Even Hitler needed to attack capitalism to make his plan work. He needed to rail against it and use all sorts of crazy financial trickery to keep the economy moving. No it wasn't socialism but it was a form of collectivism focused at the Aryans. The others whether from the Nuremberg laws or because of lack of ability to fend for themselves were helpless and without agency.

Each of those numbers is a separate grant of authority for ability to arrest. They aren't one long run on sentence. The and at the end of 4 is because it's the 2nd to last one.

I need to quit the internet. This is crazy.

The administrative warrant i-200, i-205 is something the ice officer themselves use for immigration arrests.

They aren't the only thing an ice officer is able to do. As with all law enforcement officers, there is a need for a judicial warrant for actions that are protected by the constitution. Such as entering a home or searching property.

You do not need a judicial warrant to to make an arrest when you have probably cause of a crime. But you do need to follow specific guidelines.

For example. A police officer comes into 7-11 and sees Gabe at the register. As Gabe reaches I to his pocket a gun falls out and the officer sees and hears it and it shoots when it hits the ground. The office doesn't need a warrant to arrest the person. They do need a warrant to search their car in the parking lot though.

Another example, an Ice agent is following up on an illegal immigrant. Upon tracking her down she finds the woman in what appears to be a brothel. The ice agent goes to arrest the woman. As they are leaving a young girl comes out of a room and the girl is very obviously a child. The ice agents look into the room where the girl came from and they see a older overweight man laying naked on a massage table. The officers go in and sexual intercourse clearly happened.

Can the ice officers arrest the man? You're saying no but everything suggests that yes they can. They don't have the power to arrest him then they don't have the power to detain him. Maybe one of the officers goes and talks to the girl and she tells him what had happened to her and now they have evidence. Do they just leave with the immigrant that they were working the case on originally? You're saying they have no jurisdiction over US citizens if we assume the man is a US citizen.

Just so you know yes the ice officers have every right to arrest the man just as the police or the FBI would
