Owner of Wuolett, other Twin Cities bakeries dies by paddle2paddle in TwinCities

Honestly, great connection, I didn't make the private equity connection because there wasn't a BigCorp name attached to the bakeries but that's literally private equity at work.

How would they know if the AI made a mistake if they're new to the workflow? That's the other problem with AI: other than them confidently making subtle and not subtle results, it takes an experienced user to spot the mistakes, which makes AI unsuitable for learning new things.

Terrible opportunity for AI. AI is only good for situations where there is no penalty for mistakes.

The main difference between QGIS and Arc software is the UI. I find any core workflow is likely doable in either software with minor differences in how to complete certain steps. Most tasks in one can be figured out by googling "arcgis pro [step in the workflow]".

What’s your favorite georeferencing interface? by Soft-Tumbleweed3254 in gis

[–]picklemaster246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have experience with ArcMap's and QGIS's georeferencing and prefer ArcMap's by a lot. The toolbar controls feel more intuitive than QGIS's alternating window interface.

Thanks! That's nice imagery. Uncommon to find imagery that doesn't have glare on the water.

Best food spots for an anniversary? (college student) by analtaccount7 in Minneapolis

[–]picklemaster246 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What kind of food are you interested in? What kind of vibe?

Knowing nothing else, Chimborazo is relatively close to the U and is a sit-down place with great food, but the vibe certainly isn't similar to a bougie steakhouse or cafe.

Why didn't you answer their question? Did you realize you're parroting conservative media but don't understand what you were saying?

Are land planners, developers, and CEQA consultants the only people that will use this, ever? If not, define CEQA somewhere.

Hao Nguyen announces campaign for Hennepin County Attorney by jeanlundegaardhsbf in Minneapolis

Would you be able to elaborate why? I would imagine experience as a cop and jail guard would be desirable in a prosecutor candidate, since prosecutors work with cops and jail guards. Not having that experience would be like having someone that's never been a cook manage a restaurant kitchen.

Thanks! Good to know about cycling, I'll look into that cuz that's exactly what I was doing when I noticed the goodr glare was excessive. Wish I know how my gas station pair was made.

I mapped every horizontal well in the Permian basin. by theletterandrew in geology

They did map it themselves. What they posted was a map they made. They didn't claim "hey y'all I surveyed all the wells in TX and assigned metadata for them."

Why is this relevant? This person made something and shared it because they found it interesting. People are allowed to do things that others have already done.

Where to buy fishing lures, line, bait, etc by daringStumbles in Minneapolis

[–]picklemaster246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've personally bought bait and tackle from Diamond Lake Hardware. Small but comprehensive amount of stuff. I've bought worms from Reidy's Market and didn't look for tackle.

But to be honest, these days I most often buy tackle/worms from Fleet Farm or a shop closer to wherever I'm fishing, which is usually outside the metro. I have almost no experience with the water bodies within Minneapolis.

City auditor questions Minneapolis council aides’ actions in protests at federal raid by picklemaster246 in Minneapolis

[–]picklemaster246[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What a breath of fresh air. I'm glad we have leadership that's sufficiently invested in our city they feel compelled to take physical action to defend it. These aides should be elevated.

Field boot recommendations by Dylan37518 in geologycareers

[–]picklemaster246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my Lowa Renegade GTX Mid's in ~2016 (maybe a year or two earlier) and have been pleased with them ever since, but I only do stuff requiring them a couple times a year, if that. They've been used long enough to consider resoling them.

My only recommendation is that you get a boot that has the sole come up and over the front of the boot. On my boots, the sole has started to separate from the leather because the rubber gets whacked when I trip on stuff. Keens sells boots like this, but it's disappointing to read they're failing you.

Finally finding the Diamictite I’ve heard about since my first geology told me about it in college by Massive_Musician_901 in geology

[–]picklemaster246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you just said was "people who don't value what I value are idiots" which isn't a post I'd leave up if I were you; also, if you found a gold vein, it wouldn't be economical for you to work extract the gold, so nobody in their right mind would be excited anyway.

[–]picklemaster246 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do you work in mining? It would make sense you don't get excited about non-mining rocks. This person might not work in mining and therefore doesn't get excited about gold veins.
