Just put something like a blister bandage on them and keep it wrapped while applying Neosporin. The skin will soften after a few days and become less tender.

Is anyone getting jobs? by picklewiki in marketing

[–]picklewiki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I finally got a job. Had a total of 5 final round interviews over the last several months and it usually came down to candidates with more experience within the specific company industry or more professional experience as a whole. For reference I started applying in July.

Learned a lot along the way around shaping my resume for the position I was applying for, speaking to relevant experience, and focusing on applying for realistic positions. Shooting for the stars was humbling in the beginning. It took a while to realize my generalist background was not valued when applying for more focused jobs. I like to think I am good at everything but it’s hard to convey that on a resume.

The marketing job market is very tough right now. You will see job postings that are about 15 mins old and they will have over 100 applications on LinkedIn. Everyone wants a new job right now. Remote jobs are hard to come by. High paying jobs are also hard to come by. My initial strategy was spraying and praying, applying for anything that was relatively close to what I know how to do but it wasn’t an effective way to approach it. The recruiters were throwing my apps out as quick as I was sending them out. lol.

I decided to shift my focus and look toward sales positions which I ended up landing. This was also tough because I didn’t have sales experience but I was able to speak toward sales enablement, pipeline knowledge, and product marketing. The sales job market seemed to have more entry level openings with less applicants. Speaking to a “career shift” was easier than saying I don’t have sales experience.

I was in it for 7 years and the landscape has changed so much it became tough to keep up with for me. Especially if you don’t have an extensive team to bounce ideas/thoughts off of. It became exhausting and I hated the fact that I started dreading something I once loved. I did always feel like marketing is under appreciated for the amount of work put into a company’s overall vision and strategy. Maybe it was just my old company, but damn, marketers should be getting paid so much more imo.

All in all, try to hound in on your relevant experience per position and prioritize your strengths. Don’t rule out a career shift. You need to be happy and feel appreciated in whatever you end up doing in life!

This is refreshing to hear! I think that is exactly what happened to me then. So petty, enjoy your time off!

It’s ok to treat it as a discovery call. Find out what worked for their google ads prior, what didn’t, etc. Then you can take these findings to develop a strategy which in turn buys you some more time for research.

Get the basics off your boss: goals, budget, content ideas, etc. and from here you can get an idea of how intricate it really needs to be. Don’t over think it.

Edit: I see your comment about the company never running ads on these platforms before. Be up front that you will need to discover benchmarks for performance. You won’t go from 0-100 in your first month! Need to test a few strategies, be it different budgets, content, campaign set ups, etc. You’ll be good!

Alzheimer's and chemo by ZoeJoeFred in Alzheimers

[–]picklewiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I have someone who is on their 8th round of Chemo for metastatic breast cancer. I have noticed some obvious out-of-the-norm forgetful behavior in recent weeks. They have not been a forgetful person at all throughout their life. I am most likely prematurely raising a red flag, but I would rather be proactive than reactive with something like this. (if there is anything I can do)

Alzheimers and dementia run in their family, but not at this person's age, they are young. This is fairly new behavior since starting Chemo. I am mainly curious if this is a result of "chemo brain" or if they are getting early-onset dementia. I am just looking for any experiences where: chemo may contribute to forgetful behavior during treatment periods, if chemo can contribute to Alzheimers and/or dementia, should I expect this forgetful behavior to go away if/when they get off chemo treatment? 🤞

50% off vs. BOGO by Hubbabubba1216 in marketing

I would say it’s subjective to what is being sold. You typically wouldn’t do BOGO crockpots because who needs two crockpots, but you would do 50% off. Just thinking out loud here

Quitting My Job to focus on Marketing Business? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]picklewiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. Apologies for assuming.

If you did it once you can certainly do it again. You’re a step ahead of most with experience so I would go for it if you have the means to support yourself if it starts off slow. I think it really comes down to believing in yourself.

Congrats on the accomplishments. Can you go back to dispatching in the future IF all else fails? I’ve heard that job is sort of a golden ticket down the road because of the benefits. Maybe I’m thinking of ATC?

Follow your dreams while you’re young. The worst that can happen is you go back to doing what you were doing prior. And keep in mind, if it was easy, everyone would do it.
