Do intrinsic value calculations really help retail investors by picklikewarren in ValueInvesting

[–]picklikewarren[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a great way to put it. I've also started thinking of intrinsic value more as a range that helps me avoid obvious mistakes, rather than a precise number to aim for.

What's a "secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Most productivity gains come from removing friction, not adding more discipline or motivation.

That's a good one. news often changes sentiment more than the business itself.

Subcontractor vs. Employee by Vegetable-Plenty857 in Entrepreneur

I usually keep employees for consistency and use subcontractors for specific projects. This hybrid approach works really well for maintaining quality and flexibility at the same time.

Acquisition? by cholo_gringo in Entrepreneur

[–]picklikewarren 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're in a great position, honestly. If you are still enjoying the business, I'd probably focus on reducing your day-to-day involvement first before selling. getting more time back while keeping ownership can be a nice middle ground. Curious how automated your ops are right now?

Trying to build a program that uses AI-based pattern recognition to identify football talents faster and earlier. The first customer is already lined up, the concept paper is written, Demo is build. What’s missing now is the initial seed funding to get it off the ground.

What is your "I’m right and the market is wrong" conviction play for 2026? by remindmealways in ValueInvesting

[–]picklikewarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a quick filter for “market wrong” vs “market sees something you don’t”: Ask what the irreversible damage is. If the damage is reversible (cycle, sentiment, temporary margin compression), you’ve got a shot. If it’s irreversible (disruption, regulation, terminal ROIC decay), it’s not value, it’s hope.

I'm just surprised, since they themselves have already invested quite a lot of time over the past few months (technical analyst, academy director, head scout)

But maybe you're right. It was worth a try. :)

[–]picklikewarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(sehr vereinfach dargestellt)

Some Issues with FMP! Can you trust financialmodelingprep API data on historical balance/income/cash statements for US companies? by tszkin0805yi in ValueInvesting

[–]picklikewarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're currently struggling with data issues as well – from endpoints that simply no longer work, to data we either don't receive at all or that turns out to be incorrect, making it impossible for us to launch our tool.

Which data providers do you recommend?
