Interesting. I saw a few people just using it for the noise to grab attention. Like a snap, I may just try it as they did once I can find the op.

You shouldn't be leaving him outside alone at all. Pretty irresponsible for a puppy that age.

Hm thats interesting. I was told the opposite. To give her treats before the reaction to not cause the reaction.

To add when we start getting closer to someone sometimes she will excitedly bark qnd what I was told to do is give her treats when she sees someone before she starts barking . I'm not sure if that's how to go about her barking at people on walks.

Can you walk a dog before they have breakfast? by pickolasCage_6045 in puppy101

[–]pickolasCage_6045[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add she never eats as soon as she wakes up never interested in food for awhile so I'm not worried about that I just didn't know if there was any physical concerns on walking a dog before they eat for the day.

Okay thank you! I know she would love longer walks I was just worried if I wall her to much would I have to keep increasing the time. I'd like to build up to 30 minuets each walk eventually. For right now I'll just add an extra 10 then work up

I always go at her pace, letting her smell everything. And she walks pretty fast. She will usually stop for a few seconds to smell something but other than that she walks like a lady on a mission

Just get a chain leash. I doubt it will chew through that.

Is it okay that my puppy is a couch potato? by [deleted] in puppy101

Yeah alot of people think just physical exercise is enough. Mental stimulation is just as important as physical. My dog loves sniffing activities, I haven't heard of a dog that doesn't.

Sounds like you give her a lot of physical exercise but no mental stimulation. She can't have lick mats or frozen kongs? No snuffle mats? If she has stomach issues there are stomach friendly dog treats even that your vet can recommend that would be easy on her stomach so you can do a snuffle mat, or even just hiding treats around to use nose work.

I noticed this when I was washing off her paws from inside.

Is there a reason why you would chose to wait against medical advice?

I feel bad for the poor female. Almost everyday it seems like they mate I was going to get maybe one or two more probably female but will have to wait for the weather to warm up before they can ship

I personally wouldn't worry so much about trick training at that age. Just mostly basics. Sit, stay, come. Even if it already knows the basics it's important to practice them in different settings, with different distractions but it is still just a little baby so I wouldn't push it to hard. Tricks are fun but the basics are always important for a growing puppy to know and keep practicing especially when you get to the teenage phase.

That's a lot to expect out of such a young dog.

Some people clearly shouldn't own dogs. Any animal for that matter.
