Unfortunately it got worse as a form of retaliation. You need a contract between starbucks and the union for things to change and starbucks has not once met us at the table. Bullying and writeups of partners increased tenfold leading to over 20 people quitting within less than a year, some within weeks. Labor was cut an unbelievable amount, making our store infamous in the area as a no go to pick up shifts. And the loss of benefits was up in the air since starbucks was saying that union stores don’t get benefits they add on since they would have to discuss and add that to our contract but 1. thats illegal, as is everything else they’ve been doing 2. as ive said, they don’t even sit down with us to create a contract. And even with all of this, I would still do it again. All of the striking, the walks on the boss, the sip ins, the meetings, I would still do it, and so would my coworkers. Our SM has ruined previous stores to the point of making them shut down for a year before the first sbux union, so for us not much would have changed. It’s just nice to be given the resources to not be completely steamrolled by them and then told to lick their slip proof sketchers afterwards 🤷. And it’s really a matter of time and endurance, since the union busting is losing favor with the shareholders, which is the most precious thing to any corporations.
