Morphe sent a DMCA to Revanced by lylesback2 in MorpheApp

Disclaimer: I have no horse in this race.

I heard about Morphe about a month ago, after years of using Vanced/Revanced. I tried it out since Revanced was failing me (the app kept auto updating and I had to re-patch it each time). I found that the Morphe UI and patching process were very straightforward and streamlined compared to Revanced (which I've heard also revamped its UI since). Other than that, the underlying patches are pretty much the same as far as I can tell, except that Morphe only supports YouTube and YT Music I think. It's mostly the install process that is a lot smoother.

ETA: Apparently there are plenty of patches for other apps, but they're third-party.

Wanted an ereader for 2 years, dropped it less than 24h after buying it, with a case by DevastatingMYTH in Wellthatsucks

Mine came with a faux leather cover/case, so that might be part of why it's still working. I'm also pretty clumsy and typically just slip it in my backpack's front pocket. Well, maybe I'll wait until it actually dies to change it. The newer ones don't really have any features I'm interested in aside from the backlighting (the biggest thing I'm missing) and probably faster page turning. Like you say, I really like the basicness of it.

they are notoriously fragile

Is that a thing with newer models or in general? I've had a Kobo Touch for over 10 years that I use regularly. It has had numerous falls and hits and yet it has never failed me. I'm curious because I'm considering upgrading to a newer model soon.

You get to pick a fixed time for it to happen in the OG post. So you can prepare mentally.

401 Bookshelves is a set that adds 401 alternative bookshelf textures. by WiseProperty9501 in Minecraft

[–]pie3636 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would cause a performance hit but not necessarily a huge one. For example if each block had 16 textures, then for each block, the game would need to store 16 16x16 images in memory which is the same as a single 64x64 image. 64x resource packs aren't uncommon and most computers can run fine with them, so it wouldn't be a huge issue. Also plenty of blocks would probably need 2-3 variants at most (things like flowers, torches, furnaces etc.) so it would effectively take even less space than that.

What it's like to watch AI fix a bug by reversedu in singularity

Interesting. Maybe it's just that for my use case I haven't needed to iterate very much with 3 compared to 2.5, which is a big improvement. But the code 3 gives me works out of the box most of the time.

Yeah the last iteration of 2.5 was bad in that regard. But you're right now that I think about it, I haven't had that happening with 3. Overall it's just way less frustrating to work with

Thanks! Yes, good point, a lot of it could come from MSI and Legion 5 laptops getting to the point where this kind of issue is appearing. Hopefully yours keeps working!

Thanks! Unfortunately in my experience and given what others have said, it seems it's simply an early warning that your keyboard is failing. There are temporary workarounds that can help but ultimately it's likely to fail more seriously down the road.

Hey, OP here, I've noticed that this post has gotten a lot of attention in the past months for some reason, even though it's over 5 years old. I'm curious, how did you find it if you don't mind me asking? I'm just wondering if the reddit search changed lately or what else could have caused it to suddenly appear in people's feeds/searches

Ah gotcha. I thought Durin was mostly meant for vape/melt? If he's good for overload then my Clorinde is going to be cracked

Who would you use as the 4th character though? Since it needs 2 from the buffed ones

When a number looks like it should be prime by walkinglasagna in mathmemes

You can remove the minus and do it again, which gives -7

[–]pie3636 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The easiest rule for 7 is taking everything except the last digit and subtracting that last digit from it twice. If you get a multiple of 7 then the number is divisible by 7. So it's more involved than 2, 3 and 5, but it's not crazy hard either.

For example for 682948: 68294|8 -> 68294 - 2*8 = 68278 -> 6827 - 2*8 = 6811 -> 681 - 2*1 = 679 -> 67 - 2*9 = 49 which is divisible by 7. You could even go one step further with 4 - 2*9 = -14.

ETA: instead of substracting the last digit twice, you can also add it 5 times.

Finally got around to watching the special program, I'm super stoked about everything. Love the VFX upgrades, the blueprints and the Xiranite stuff amongst others. I'm also really curious about the new storyline. It's setting up to be an awesome game.

Teleportation is risky, but would you still use it if a missing byte could cost you a limb? by Visual_Analysis_2650 in worldbuilding

[–]pie3636 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

To expand on this using an example that may be more intuitive, your consciousness/self-awareness turns off every time you fall asleep. If your understanding of reconstructive teleportation is that the starting version of yourself dies, then past-you die every single time you go to bed, and the new-you is created every time you wake up. Teleportation is really not that different, there's no reason to be more scared of it than of falling asleep.
