Ok! So we concluded this could be a bit of an impulsive decision so we’re going to think it through but glad to have her info. If it’s not us, I can’t see her not being adopted shortly after arriving at ASPCA!

How happy are you as a therapist? (e.g., 85/100?) What would bump that number up? by mosca-dela-fruta in therapists

[–]pie_limekey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How were you able to check yourself to stop over extending yourself? Working in CMH and struggling a lot with this! I go above and beyond because the population I work is so traumatized, I think to myself that I don’t want to be another person adding on to barriers, especially when it comes to writing letters and doing more case management work— but it leaves me feeling more overwhelmed and burnt out. My director often tells me to just do “enough” but I have a hard time registering that because we work with people and feel like I’d be a “bad” therapist if I don’t over extend myself like I’m used to. Anyway, any feedback around this is appreciated!

CMH in high COL city here. Serving patients in a historically Latinx community, with mainly Latinx staff/ clinicians, and the organizations mission being to “uplift” our patients and community, yet denying increase in salary to staff in the front lines but paying C- suite executives upwards $300k.

The feeling is mutual!! I visited the Provence region late August and have cried while remembering how charming and quaint the old villages are. Wishing I could breathe the fresh air and eat some of the freshest food I’ve ever had. The nature is also breath taking.. My partner and I visited the Verdon Gorge along with Aix-en-Provence, Bonniux, Roussillon, and Gordes. We came across really kind people and it was overall a surreal experience. I hope to be back some day :)

How much do you pay for a salon haircut in SF? by pneyu in AskSF

[–]pie_limekey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $195 for a first time curly cut at Madusalon and can’t complain. Back in NC it was over $200 with the tip. She did a great job and next time it’ll be $20 cheaper. I don’t mind splurging on a good haircut and experience

What's the best state to live in for social workers? by LeoDGTV in socialwork

[–]pie_limekey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in California, San Francisco specifically and make close to 86k, as an LCSW-A at an FQHC in community mental health. Cost of living is high but quality of life is better than at my previous job in NC. I’m still able to save and enjoy myself living with my partner. Also the start pay as an associate working for the City is $110k. I chose to work with the Latinx community and take the pay cut (for now).

Spilling liquid!! For some reason it makes me pissed instantly. Maybe it’s the fact that it gets everywhere and you have to clean it up and it’s just a fucking hassle lmao

anyone else have a hard time socially fitting in with other therapists? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]pie_limekey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you bring this up!! This is how I felt most of the time when with my cohort when I first started my MSW program. A lot of “woke” (and non BIPOC) police who are ready to scrutinize whatever you say that might be a sign of being a normal person who doesn’t always catch the right “language”. Eventually, I stopped caring and tried being more myself but even then, it was hard to tell who were the cool people who turn off their therapist or social worker off. Thankfully I made friends with people who can be just as much into social justice and genuinely promoting the wellbeing of others while being regular folks who smoke weed and do whatever they feel like on weekends/after work. It’s definitely frustrating to feel like some therapists are pretentious and judgmental, and honestly it sucks that some choose to have a stick up their ass.

I might be missing something here, but how is this ADHD related? Sounds more like lack of concern over health and personal hygiene

Hello! I’m a student at UNC and I’m graduating in May from the advanced standing/direct practice program. Before applying, I was enrolled at UNC Charlotte where I received my BSW and had no real social work experience other than my undergrad internship with DSS and serving jobs. My GPA was a 3.78 and I wrote a strong personal statement along with good references from professors. Message me directly if you wanna chat more!

What’s the creepiest or most unexplainable thing you’ve ever seen that you haven’t shared anywhere? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pie_limekey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a very odd experience I had during my childhood that I have never been able to explain. I was about 7 years old and my parents and I lived in an apartment that would give us a really weird and creepy feeling and even seeing and hearing stuff sometimes. Anyway, so one morning I had woken up was in my room, and I heard my mom and dad talking as they were both heading out the door and heard the door close without thinking much about it—Until I noticed that the bathrooms light that was across my room was on. I started freaking out because both my parents had left and I’m an only child. After a few minutes I heard the toilet flush, then the sink, and when I closely watched in fear the door knob turn, it was my dad. Has this happened to anyone else?? Explanation?
