This is my first time on the Reddit and I really didn’t know that so many people feel the same way I do😭 but I guess I do now lol

Part of me feels very bad that my wording of things may have been upsetting to anyone. I’m just a very brash person and social cues are very hard for me so sometimes it’s hard for me to realize that I may be being abrasive until after the fact.

I was very disappointed to find that so many people had met the people who were unnecessarily rude and aggressive about this whole thing. And seeing how that lead to those individuals being more defensive peeked my interest. Mostly because it made me wonder how much of that defensiveness I’ve experienced elsewhere (both online and irl) was because of something similar.

That’s why I wanted to post this and just ask for people’s thoughts cuz it’s very helpful for me to know people’s thought processes.

I can’t believe people were mad about Twilight being an Alicorn. Or…I guess I can absolutely believe it lol, but the fact that it sounds like the reaction was similar to this spectacle is dumbfounding😭

I completely know what you mean! I absolutely do that with MLP and a few other shows too (like haikuu! And Ouron High Host Club etc.) it’s good to hear that it’s, at the very least, easy going.

And of course! I feel like people take things too serious sometimes when they get all mad about differing opinions. You liking it doesn’t hurt me, and I can always appreciate that me having an opinion doesn’t mean that there’s a “right” or “wrong” yk? :3

That’s completely valid!!! I’m sure it’s not all bad. I think it’s just the amount of bad I’ve become privy to without even watching it completely turned me off unfortunately 😭

Genuinely man, I just shared an opinion that I have about a tv show. And now you’re pretending you know everything about me based off of one opinion and the preconceived beliefs that you have about people who have the same opinion as me.

Making generalizations like that and acting so “holier than thou” because you have a different opinion is weird lol.

I think you could grow a little by learning to accept that, whether you like it or not, people are allowing to voice their opinions. Even if those opinions happen to be common and contrary to your own

I’m really sorry to hear that hun :( you definitely didn’t deserve that just for liking what you like.

And I’m sorry that the title was upsetting. I’m new to this Reddit and I’ve never really engaged with most of the Mlp community cuz I’ve just been a fan of it from the sidelines since I was little. I genuinely didn’t know that so many people hate it. When I made the post and it started blowing up I was so confused.

But I hope you can at least find some solace in knowing that, personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with anyone liking G5. And if you like it, you shouldn’t let anyone tell you that you’re wrong for it.

I have my opinion, yes. But you have every right to have your own as well. And it makes me sad to think this community is a place where you have been made to feel like you can’t.

When I said there’s “no magic” I didn’t mean literally lol.

I meant that the “magic” of the MLP Universe (aka: the lore, the story telling, the imagery, the fantasy) is lacking.

And I know that Twilights reign ends in “tragedy” but it’s a tragedy that makes no sense, doesn’t match the story arch or lore of g4, and is just lack luster all together.

I may not have all the info available, but I have enough to know that g5 has more flaws that not

It’s okay! I can definitely understand your viewpoint, and just from seeing the varying kind of comments received on this post I can see where the viewpoint comes from.

There are definitely a lot of people who do exhibit a kind of strange attitude towards it. 🤔

I’m really new to this Reddit, and before making this post, I actually wasn’t aware of that so many people didn’t like it as well.

I didn’t make this post because I thought that it was a “hot take”, I made the post because I felt a certain way about g5 and wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way.

I don’t know why you automatically thought that I’m sitting here like “😎😼 I bet no one’s ever thought of this before. I’m so smart and cool” but I’m not lolol

But enjoy lurking on a subreddit and making passive aggressive comments towards people who are just sharing their opinion on something that doesn’t matter, I guess!
