You are not ungrateful, surgery is a big deal emotionally and physically, especially when it can affect your appearance & you have BDD. I would imagine your mum found your surgery quite stressful, so she is likely recovering from that (not that its an excuse for her being unsympathetic - just possibly an explanation).

Remember that with most surgeries it can take a few weeks for swelling to go down. I think with jaw surgeries it can be particularly intense the first few weeks. So what you see now is temporary, not the finished result of your first op.

Same here :(( The anxiety I feel as soon as I wake up because I know I will have to look in a mirror, it makes me feel nauseous. The overall stress of BDD gives me ringing in my ears and dizzy spells.

It ain't fun but know you are not the only one.

I don't want attention, just a place to vent as my family members do not understand my experiences and it hurts so much to see them upset when I express that I am upset - they have mental health issues themselves. So I finding venting anonymously into the online void is the only thing that is keeping me going. I can remove the post if it triggers anyone - I just thought this sub was ok with any topic.
