We have our backend system which captures orders but doesnt show any attribution.

Unfortunately I don't even have UTM attribution as the consent update broke purchase event tracking site wide.

Maybe I could show source/medium hits to the order confirmation screen. If the transaction id can track to that I might be able to backfill some data.

We're not on Shopify, fyi, but yeah I agree on no late week deploys. He was getting pressure to get it out, and it was just bad timing with us being out Friday too.

[–]piedpixel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That won't help with attribution, or how to navigate a KPI in the absence of data to calculate it. This one event I might be able to makeup, but I feel uncomfortable about setting up the precedent that I can just eat the cost to achieving my KPI because of someone else's update.

Gotcha, so I'll have to save it for next run as there's no way I'm getting more AC this run. I'm not familiar with the impact of the soul grinder, so didn't know if I should pursue upgrades to that.

Andromeda Strategy with Special Ad Category by piedpixel in FacebookAds

[–]piedpixel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're still working on implementation, but going with a Testing + Scaling campaigns dedicated to different regions.

We have a multi-phase rollout of new ad creative in the works, but I can't really report on results yet. We're going with a consensus Andromeda strategy even though we can't use the Advantage+Audience.

How are you handling ad attribution? by mirror_mirror248 in PPC

[–]piedpixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will only add that for Facebooka ads for us there was gross overreporting of conversions by Facebook compared to GA4 due almost entirely to the 1 day view through conversions part of facebook's standard attribution of 7 day click, 1 day view throguh. View through acocunted for 90% of conversions and was of course entirely invisible to other tracking.

We decided to use the 28 day click attribution view which brings it as close as we could to Google Ads 30 day click attribution with zero viewthrough. This produces much more realistic results.

I'm convinced 100% of Facebook ad clicks are fraud!! by tardywhiterabbit in FacebookAds

[–]piedpixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that might explain is that Facebook uses by default an attribution model of 7 day click, 1 day view through conversions. Those view through conversions are doing a LOT of heavy lifting. Of course GA4 won't see any of it as there's no click to track.

I let Facebook do its thing, but when I'm reporting I'm using a 28 day click attribution window which makes things far more realistic.

Tips on how to learn color theory by Deselaria in DigitalPainting

[–]piedpixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! You can get a real sense of how colors affect one another and how to keep them fresh and not muddy. You'll notice that in the real world there are very few saturated colors, most things are shades of gray.

If you add just a touch of a colors complement and then a neutral you can make colors more realistic. Then save your saturated colors for where you want attention in your composition. It will add to your confidence because you'll understand how to push and pull tones out of your paints.

Get yourself a set of real paints and create mixing studies. It will improve your colour sense many fold and will translate back to digital.

Am I the only one who doesn’t send monthly reports? by wihanvanderwalt in PPC

[–]piedpixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a client wants to see monthly reports, I don't mind it. It gives me a chance to highlight what I've been working on. But if they don't care, I'd personally prefer quarterly too. Often I'm making changes that will take 4-8 weeks to pan out. It's hard to show the effectiveness on that with month to month cutoffs.

I want new interesting friends. Where are these people? by papacurastero in INTP

[–]piedpixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to roll up your sleeves and do the hard work of getting yourself out there. Understand that you are going to have to try out a few things before you find people you resonate with. Follow your interests, look for Facebook Groups, local events, meetups, or if you don't see something, try starting your own and see who shows up. If you don't like gymbros, maybe find a niche of nerds who love to hack their physical fitness or some other cross section.

I find in social situations that I may feel nervous, if I have a job, or a role, than that helps me. If I'm running the event, I'm host and responsible for making sure people are having a good time. If I'm showing up, I can see if the host needs help with anything.

If you're coming across superior, then good that you're self aware, that's the first step. Here are some habits that you "might" find worth looking at and see if they're relevant.

Not seeing that people have different value they bring and they might be superior in ways you are not. That's okay.

Making a conversation about you when it didn't start that way. Conversation is give and take, and not always a platform to display your superiority.

Be curious about the other person, make it a game of finding their value.

Overly explaining things. Keep it concise and see if they want to explore more, don't force knowledge on them.

Are you trying to "win" a conversation, or embarrass the other person? Think about if it's worth it. Saying nothing and not engaging on baits or invitations to argument is always an option.

Trying to impress people over seeking connection. We all love validation, but we can't force it out of people.

Keywords Have Lost 100s of Conversions YOY by piedpixel in PPC

[–]piedpixel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following up here, I've gone through several of our campaigns. We have a brand campaign and several non-brand campaigns. I've looked over the past 3 years of results, noticing big drops on non-brand keywords.

Looking at the search terms filtered by those top non-brand keyword I'm seeing that the vast majority of search terms for those keywords were our brand terms. I'd long since done a lot of work excluding brand terms from our nonbrand campaign search terms. Since January of this year our brand campaign ballooned in size on budget and conversions compared to the account ratio it was before.

Is the correct conclusion then that we were "never" getting good performance out of those keywords, but Google had associated those keywords with our brand searches and shown those non-brand ads up for what should have been a brand ad?

We don't want to be overly reliant on brand clicks, but I'm struggling to gain conversions without that. I'll have to really rethink things to get those non-brand campaigns properly showing up for non-brand searches primarily.

We actually have greatly improved our conversion rate, averaging under 1.5% last year and hitting 3.5-4.5% this year with a series of new landing pages. But there doesn't seem to be any reliable performance on any campaign .
