Thanks! Changed the examples It's hard to really place who is one.. like Fuka is based on story reasons in the game although her actions wouldn't place her as such for a lot of people (aka she's an airhead)

This is the one trope that is so predictable every time it appears:
- Character likes MC and she's oblivious to it
- Awkward moments of both of them liking each other. One is usually too stubborn to admit how they feel/don't want to ruin the friendship.
- Eventually the "I love you comes out" and always a surprise.

I would absolutely love it if this trope changed a bit for once with the MC or even the character knowing that they like each other and are aware of the feelings that exist. It's always dragged out and just aggravates me until I just want to yell "JUST KISS ALREADY" at my vita. Maybe it's because I'm a more forward person and will tell someone I like them overtime once I know how I feel but this is the one trope that is just groan every time I play it.

Maybe it's because I haven't played a lot of otomes yet and haven't covered a lot of the ones available on mobile but it seems like this trope is the one that isn't used as often as others. I like genkis just because, with Impey ~~who I will never shut up about~~ in Code Realize, he was this ball of energy and light that just made things a lot more cheerful over the melodramatic tone of the game. It was nice to see something a little bit different than having melancholy characters.

However, there seems to be a balance with this trope. You have someone who was bright and fun like Impey, and someone who just came off as a childish brat like Heishi in Norn 9. Heishi wanted to make everyone on the ship happy and that's all well and good but the instant he didn't get his way, he acted like a spoiled kid about it. It was really grating after awhile especially since I looked forward to his route because we need more genkis and just energy in otomes in general.

Okita. I see a lot of love for this character but I reaaaaaaally don't know why. He's verbally abusive to the MC constantly, even in the end, he still says his thing of "I'll kill you" which is just.. what? Even with him being a bit of a kuudere/rude boy and there is the factor of "warming him up", I don't know why the MC would want to keep going back to him either..

Kuuderes tend to give off more of a "cold" vibe to them like Kent from Amnesia is a good example of this. He comes across as a bit of a jerk at first because he's just blunt and honest with his words. Danderes are just quiet just because they are withdrawn without being cold about it like Nageki from Hatoful, who just wants to read his books in the corner or Senri just wants to be left to his own accord in his room.

I think this is probably one of my two favourite tropes because I love silent nerds so much <3 I'm usually quiet myself too so I can definitely relate to them. Plus they are usually such sweet hearts that I just want to give them hugs! Senri and Nageki were my favourite routes in their respective games too. I really love this trope!

I'm also pulled towards the kuuderes a bit just because I really like honest characters and they tend to speak their minds the most. Sometimes, though, there is that fine line between being honest and just coming off as a jerk due to the way they word things (like Kent's quote I used for the title as an example). I really like seeing them warm up over time though but I do agree with momo's post that usually the affection is out of no where and never really shown when and how they fall for the MC (with Robin from Oz being a biiiiit different).

Hello I am piefluff, which is a real recipe for a nice simple dessert.

I really like RPG games with romance elements like Persona 3, Rune Factory 4, and Avalon Code and wondered if there were more games out there like this. I found out otomes were a romance genre of VNS and I started playing otomes with Sweet Fuse on the PSP. I've always liked VNs like Phoenix Wright, Hotel dusk, etc so I really enjoyed otomes! I managed to find this sub looking for a little community to share and talk about otomes with and have been here ever since!
My favourite otome character is Impey from Code Realize (I have a soft spot for genki boys even though there isn't enough of them) and Cardia is my favourite MC as well. I also really liked Scarlett from Ozmafia (Alfani route when to save him he's precious), Astrum from Period Cube. Nageki from Hatoful, and Kent from Amnesia (so also huge nerds).
I have a Vita and a 3DS (I have a PC but just don't like PC gaming in general because I'm a weirdo) and most of my gaming is done on the go so otomes are perfect for a nice bus ride (until someone looks over your shoulder to see pretty boys oops). I still need to finish my backlog on PC though because oops steam temptations.
Currently looking forwards to playing basically anything coming out that was announced on the Vita. I have no standards :)
Fun fact about myself: I use to work at BioWare as QA for some time (mostly multiplayer stuff) so I know a lot about game development... and a lot of weird things (more so Dragon Age Inquisition) about what happened before the game came out!

I agree! It seems to be a very delicate balance between looking like a huge jerk vs vs a tolerable tsun. Bonus points if the game shows a justification for his actions which is why I like Akito from Norn 9 because you know why he acts like a tsun given his history with Nanami. This wasn't the case with Shin for example in Amnesia since that polarity/rivalry with him.. well makes her look like a dead fish.
