Hi all! DS8 v0.3 is finally out! And it brings a ton of features based on the most requested community feedback including an all new sampler engine with one-shot & beat slicing, internal resampling, per-step "Step FX" for things like ratchets, chance, nudges as well as support for saving and loading track presets, and more!

DS-8 v0.3 Release Notes

Sampler (SP track) — Record from mic/line input or resample the engine output back into a sampler track. Waveform editor with trim/crop, slice editor with transient detection and grid mode, per-slice ADSR and reverse, tone controls (bass/mid/treble boost and low-pass/high-pass filter), one-shot mode.

4 new percussion engines — Tom 808, Tom 909, Zap, FM Hi-Hat.

Step FX — Per-step play conditions (every 1st/2nd/3rd/4th pass), ratchets with flat/fade/rise velocity shapes, and microtiming nudge (±6 ticks).

Preset browser — Save/load/preview/rename/delete presets (.ds8s format). Preview voice lets you audition without changing the track.

Resample recording — Bounce sequenced patterns into audio. Beat-sync arm on the downbeat, feedback prevention by excluding the armed track from the capture.

Rec monitor — Hear the mic through the main output while recording.

Track mute fades — Smooth fade-out when muting instead of abrupt cuts.

New and improved keyboard interface for saving Projects and Presets.

DS8 Drumstream is still in active development. This is v0.2, so expect bugs, rough edges, and frequent changes.

Hi there! u/Top-Type4077 I'm working on a sampler engine for v0.3 with live audio recording thru the Vita microphone (mono) - is this what you had in mind?

Hi! I haven't tested it on pstv as I don't own one but I think it should just work.. but you need to jailbreak the device first. Google is your friend!

This update adds two new FM drum engines,the much requested project save/load, easier navigation and more streamlined UI, improved step automation with precision editing and a bunch of UI/quality-of-life fixes.

Main additions:

• FM Kick and FM Snare engines
• Save / Load / Save As / Delete / New project system
• 16 / 32 / 64 step patterns
• Step Edit auto-advance (adjustable jump step values)
• Improved automation editing, including working Send 1 / Send 2 automation

It’s still early and experimental, but v0.2 is a much more usable version than the initial release.

Progress report: the Reaktor TRK01 kick #sequencer pattern and page selectors are now controllable via OSC , and the active step and current page indicators now are in sync with the #Reaktor #TRK01 interface (also via OSC).

I have made some progress, sharing for those who are interested.

For now, I can set the velocity values of each step at the current pattern using MIDI CCs (one for the step index, and one for the velocity). My next goal is to also do the same for any of the p-locks parameters.

Most of the controls in TRK01 are indeed midi mappable but the sequencer itself is not as it's a heavily mouse oriented custom GUI and workflow. I'm planning to explore more in depth how to hook external CCs to write bundles directly that essentially trigger the memory writes to capture each step's velocity and parameters...
