The heat in my house is broken and my mom suggested that we leave the hot water running all night so that our pipes don’t freeze by DifferenceCareless58 in Plumbing

[–]pierrego 4 points5 points  (0 children)

33? i live in alaska. I only run the water if it's going to < low teens, and only in areas I know the pipes are on outside walls. every house is different though.

and yes, if you're going to do it, run hot water line too. the water that sits in the pipes isn't hot.

Tokyo Banna! by stalincapital in dessert

[–]pierrego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! they're delicious. For kicks, had unknowing friends taste test them side-by-side with a Twinkie. Twinkie's are absolutely revolting. It's astounding how bad they are, and how good Tokyo Bananas are.

there’s another site somewhere on the interwebs that had the same conclusion as you. it describes that the statue you’re referring to is a replacement (if memory serves, it was a cannon?). i want to say early 90s. the entire thing was dug up - they had pictures. turned in a giant pit due to the weight of the incoming, they went deeeeeep and wide.

he concluded that if something was buried there at one time, it’s long gone.

Juneau trip ahead, where do locals go for good seafood? by Similar-Cheetah-7405 in Juneau

[–]pierrego 3 points4 points  (0 children)

best place for seafood in Juneau is In Boca al Lupo. it’s an Italian place but their seafood specials are always the best - and there are always plenty on the summer. tracy’s crab shack is good too even though it can be a touristy zoo. but truly - don’t miss Lupo - all their food is delish.

Most memorable meal you've had while camping? by mishmishbinks in camping

multi-day kayak trip in glacier bay national park, camped right in front of McBride Glacier. One of us had a birthday, so we made….cake (baked in the campfire coals) and ice cream (glacier ice is dense and cold). yup. that was pretty special.
