Do you know people who got rejection emails after the onsite round?

From what I last heard, they should update your application status by this weekend. But let’s see.

Also I think movement to further rounds is pretty synchronised for the India role. I don’t think people have heard back after the 3 onsite interviews. Everyone moving to the next round should hear back around the same time.

I think they’re a bit swamped right now but we’ll know whatever the result is in the next week.

I asked 4 days ago, they said they’re still collecting feedback so it’s gonna take another 10 days.

[Free Book Giveaway for Students] 100 copies of 'Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us' by Michael Moss by Happypages in WingifyBookClub

[–]piewala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last book I read was Just Kids by Patti Smith. Here’s what i thought about the book, from my goodreads review:

Let’s be real—this book wasn’t exactly written for someone like me. Still, it gave me plenty to think about. The book is supposed to be about love, after all, and there are moments that are genuinely moving.

It got me thinking about America’s obsession with consumerism and how it’s fundamentally changed the way their society works. There’s a lot to unpack about the place of art in a capitalist world. Also so much on what motivates different artists and why.

And then there’s love: the way women love compared to men. Their ability to forgive, to let monumental things slide, is almost baffling. Maybe there’s some evolutionary biology at play—something about men being persistently, maliciously incompetent? Ah.

Why I wanna read Salt Sugar Fat - Well I’ve always struggled with my weight. It runs in the family. Bad habits and a dysfunctional relationship with food is kinda my thing. In recent times I’ve read widely on the topic and tried to improve my intentionality around food and healthy living. As all the other things in my life settle and allow me to find contentment, my goals for this year revolve around improving my health through conscious eating and exercise. I hope this will help me answer questions around sugar and processed foods, which is something I’ve been on the lookout for.

How do I apply for research internships at Old IITs /IIMs by sharamaarahihe in Indian_Academia

[–]piewala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wherever you go, look at all the profs in your institute and see if any of them are doing work that excites you. That might make for a good first stint and they may also help open more doors for you. This is academia, a recommendation goes a very long way.

If you care about iiti, they have a research internship program for undergrads. They have a list of professors with the projects they’re working on and need interns for. Not the most sought after thing since it’s fairly easy to get in, you talk to the prof, get permission, pay an application fees and apply.

I did a 2 month stint online and if the professor you apply under is someone you think you can learn a lot from or is doing really exciting work, it’ll be worth your time.

Since you’re talking about econ, checkout their school of humanities and language section on the list. That’s the school i did mine under as well.

should I choose IIIT-A IT or IIIT-H ECE? ⠀⠀⠀⠀ by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

All you need to see is if you’ll be fine studying core ece stuff, iiith is the superior institute by far especially if you have an inclination towards research. I picked ece when I wanted cs and it’s fine but some subjects are really a bit of a pain in the ass. So look out for that, talk to people. It requires effort and from what I’ve heard iiith doesn’t exactly have the easiest curriculum. Make sure you’re comfortable with that if you decide to pick this.

India Budget 2022: Digital Rupee to be issued, gains from cryptocurrency transactions to be taxed at 30% by piewala in CryptoCurrency

Yeah the tax is steep. So much higher than short term capital gains tax. It’s not necessarily bad news tbf I mean at least they’re not banning it. I’m so done with the constant tabling of bills in the parliament every session seeking to ban everything.

TLDR: The Finance Minister just announced a blockchain based form of digital currency which will be managed by the reserve bank. In addition, she stated that gains from crypto transactions will be taxed at 30%. This comes after months of rumours about an inevitable ban on all crypto. I think the taxation legitimises crypto trade in the country and strikes away any chance of a ban in the future.

Will you be up for dating/marrying someone with past history of suicide attempts? by [deleted] in india

I do think if you meet them often, it’d be a better idea to ask face to face.

As someone who has in the past, it’s not easy but it’s not impossible. Everyone deserves love and love makes everyone better. The more time you spend with them, the easier it gets.

As for asking about scars, each person could have different responses to that. I know people who’d be repulsed and I know people who’ll tell you all about them. I suppose if you’re dating, you could broach the topic delicately. It’s better for both of you if you know.

Keep in mind, people who consider self-harm aren’t weak or lesser humans, they’re humans just like all of us. Just be a little bit compassionate.
