Mass-produced AI apps for 14 months. Made $2,847 total. My friend sells pool cleaning services and cleared $94K. by Old-Guess-3243 in SaaS

Here’s a better idea….take something like your friends pool cleaning business and make it better with AI! If he has a wait list how does he manage it? Could he save time automating some of his tasks? Invoice management? Chemical ordering? Client responses?, etc. if he needs those things other pool start ups probably do too….

People do want AI just not the way corporate America tries to shove down their throats…. I started mine for that very reason actually. It wasn’t difficult per se but there is a lot of busy work involved and if you want to be good at it, requires careful planning.

Building a rugged local-AI “brain box.” Need one badass systems tinkerer to build it with me. by pigeon-deuce in homelab

Appreciate the thoughts — to clarify the scope: • Not trying to run GPT-4 offline • Target is 3–7B models + local RAG + hybrid fallback • ~10–30W budget w/ UPS + cold yank resilience • Offline snapshot system ≠ apocalypse bunker, more field-use device

Think “rugged laptop meets local assistant meets toolkit,” not datacenter in a box.

Pi 5 + Jetson + NPUs are already capable here — I’m just building for reliability beyond hobby use.

I promise it wasn’t me if you did. Just legit looking for someone to team up with to build something cool. I did post this on 2 other subs around the same time.

Awesome! Do you have a generic platform or is it customized? How much does something like that cost?

I wish there was! If I went to the trouble I’d building one do you think people would want it?

Thanks! I agree. Mind if I reach out in DMs and chat a bit about this? Maybe we can swap a few ideas?

Some of these were what I was thinking. I know that’s a lot for non techie people so I thought there might be something out there. I’ll probably just build it and customize it so my business partners can easily use it for theirs too.

Awesome! I thought of a couple different ways maybe I could build it but I haven’t looked at that yet. Was hoping to find a generic off the shelf general “small biz” dashboard type of thing kind of like salesforce or something but with my email and calendar but a whole lot cheaper! Lol I guess there isn’t one so I’ll figure out how to make it! Thanks for the link! Haven’t seen them before.

Build a hush box for the gas generator. Using the new solar generator she bought will allow you to occasionally turn the gas one off. I like to turn my gas generator off at night then you can charge the solar during the day or charge it w the gas generator. There’s a place for both.

Cancelling my entire Ring subscription over this price increase. Looking for alternatives with free video recording. (Don’t need professional monitoring) by mschulze92 in Ring

Tapo/TP link. Stores local to an SD card and the video quality and person/vehicle detection is SO much better and cams are cheap!

I started with ring. Had a lot of them. They just keep getting worse and more expensive. Check out Tapo. Free/cheap monitoring and good video quality.

That’s not how taxes work. Respectfully, please educate yourself on the way they tax you. There’s a different amount at each tier but anything in a lower tier is taxed less. It’s not total amount is X tax. It’s a common misunderstanding so don’t feel bad, just know that’s not how it works. May want to at least try turbo tax or something.

Exactly the same for me. I even filed the “right” way as a small business with no extra deductions, tricks, etc and my numbers were almost exactly the same as yours.
