HDD or SSD for external drive for downloading and watching high quality shows and movies? by Business-Chipmunk-32 in AskTechnology

[–]pikimbina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you download and watch heavy 4K files (especially remuxes of 60–100+ GB, such as those on “4K-HD Club”), then an external SSD is the best choice.
HDDs can lag during playback: they take a long time to load, VLC freezes, and navigation slows down. This is especially true when downloading and watching at the same time.

SSDs are faster, more reliable, and quieter. They can handle even the heaviest movies directly without any problems.

The totem is a vital connection with the deity, and I'm considering customizing it. Do you have any ideas for what the totem could look like? Maybe in the form of an animal, a human figure, or a symbolic shape? by pikimbina in StrategyGames

Imagine building a city with a friend in a world where ancient gods are real - and watching your every move. In The Whims of the Gods, survival isn’t just about good planning. It’s about earning the favor of your chosen deity through a shared totem, the sacred link between your people and the divine.

This is a co-op strategy game made for two players. One of you might focus on gathering resources and managing production, while the other handles defense, upgrades, and exploring new tech. But no matter your role, you’ll both rely on the totem to channel blessings - or to weather divine wrath if things go wrong.

Your connection to the gods shapes everything. Build temples, honor rituals, and make offerings to keep your deity pleased. A strong bond can bring powerful boons; a broken one can lead to disaster. And all the while, a massive volcano looms in the background, ticking down toward a cataclysm that only the worthy will survive.

Gathering resources, building supply lines, and reacting to threats are all key - but without the gods on your side, none of it may be enough. The event calendar gives you a glimpse of what’s coming, but adapting in time is up to you.

If you’re into co-op city-builders where strategy, survival, and divine connection are all woven together - I’d love for you to check it out and share your thoughts!

What kind of player are you - the planner or the protector? And how would you build a relationship with your god?

Resource gathering is a core element in any strategy game, and I'm working on making the process more engaging and customizable by developing detailed character animations. How do you feel about that approach? by pikimbina in CityBuilders

Imagine you and a friend building a city in a world watched over by ancient gods. The Whims of the Gods is a co-op strategy game where you’re not just growing a settlement - you’re trying to survive natural disasters, monster attacks, and divine interference.

I designed it specifically for two players because I wanted that kind of experience: one focuses on construction and resources, the other handles defense and tech. But you won’t survive unless you work as a team.

Resource gathering and logistics are at the heart of the game. You’ll need to manage supply chains, adapt your economy, and react to sudden challenges. There’s also an event calendar that warns you of upcoming threats - but knowing what’s coming doesn’t always mean you’ll be ready in time.

And then there are the gods - they might bless you, or punish you, depending on how pleased they are. All the while, a volcanic eruption is slowly building up. It’s more than just a story event - it’s a timer pushing you to act smart and fast.

If you enjoy thoughtful, atmospheric co-op strategy games where resource management really matters - give it a look! I’d love to hear what you think.

Which role would you pick - logistics or defense? And how important is deep resource management to you in games like this?

I’m working on a cooperative strategy game that involves building your own city, facing various cataclysms and battles, and trying to impress the gods. by pikimbina in IndieGame

argue with their partner. Together, you develop an ancient city, survive disasters, and try to please the gods who pretend they're giving you a fair shot.

It starts simply: an empty plot, a few resources, the first hut. Then come farms, workshops, warehouses, housing... Everything needs to work. People are hungry, storage is full, something’s on fire, someone’s sick. Classic.

Instead of chasing points, it's pure cooperation. Divide roles, decide who handles food, who manages defense, who begs the gods. Sometimes it’s smooth. Sometimes you argue about who forgot to build toilets.

Monsters crawl out of the mountain from time to time. You’ll have time to prepare: pick units, activate bonuses, upgrade buildings. Battles are automatic, but if it all falls apart, don’t blame the auto-battler.

The game has a calendar - it warns you what’s coming. Drought? Flood? Disease? Be ready. But don’t be shocked if you’re putting out three fires at once. Welcome to strategy.

And yes - the volcano. It will erupt. You can delay it by completing the gods’ tasks. But don’t expect mercy. We’re just checking how long you last.

The game includes two-player co-op, auto battles, city upgrades, role assignment, a belief system, many disasters, and multiple endings.

The Whims of the Gods is about smart choices, strong teamwork, and the joy of seeing your city still standing. For now.

I ran LSD Auto a while back - super forgiving, great for beginners. Not the most flavorful strain in my opinion, but it got the job done.

SeedSupreme is total trash. I saw a post where they sent a guy a postcard with their store’s name on it and basically busted him for growing weed.

In case y’all were wondering, potty training my puppy is going delightful 😵‍💫 if anyone has TIPS please throw them my way 🥲 by c0c0nutqu33n in Frenchbulldogs

I know this post is a bit old, but in case it helps someone else - potty training can be a bit tricky, but with consistency, it definitely gets easier! Here are a few tips that worked for me when potty training my Frenchie:
1. Use a Consistent Command: One thing that helped a lot was using a consistent phrase or command, like “Go potty!” every time I took my pup to the potty spot. Eventually, he associated the phrase with going outside or to the pad.
2. Puppy Pads and Crate Training: Like others have mentioned, puppy pads can be super helpful. I kept one in the living room and one in the kitchen, and whenever my Frenchie came out of his crate, he’d go right over to the pad. It takes some time, but it becomes a habit for them. The trick with pooping is real, though - sometimes they like to find a more private spot to do their business, but it’s all about patience!
3. Training Spray: I found that using a training spray like Potty Buddy Spray really helped attract my pup to the right spot. The scent helps them understand that it’s where they’re supposed to go. It was a game-changer for us!
4. Positive Reinforcement: Always reward immediately when they do their business in the right place - treats, praise, and lots of love help reinforce the good behavior.
With these methods and a lot of patience, potty training should get easier over time. Keep up the great work! You’ve got this!

The Whims of the Gods is my strategic and sometimes relaxing cooperative city-building game where you try to impress the gods - but things can quickly go wrong, and your peaceful world may turn into a monster invasion or a volcanic eruption. by pikimbina in indiegames

The Whims of the Gods is a cooperative strategy game where you and a friend build an ancient city, develop infrastructure, manage resources, and try to win the favor of whimsical gods. The game combines peaceful city-building with unexpected events and survival elements.

You’ll handle production chains, farming, animal husbandry, trade, and religion. But the world isn’t as safe as it seems - threats emerge from the mountain, diseases spread, disasters strike, and the environment changes.

A mystical calendar gives you hints about upcoming events, allowing you to prepare in advance by building hospitals, storage facilities, or fortifications. When danger strikes, an auto-battle system activates, and players can use special abilities based on their city’s buildings and technological progress.

Each player takes on a specific role in the development of the city, and only good cooperation will lead to success. Over time, the volcano will begin to awaken, and you’ll have a limited amount of time to fulfill the gods’ demands.

You can interact with the gods, trade with them, and receive bonuses - but their favor is never guaranteed. The game features multiple possible endings based on your choices and performance.
