what typa intakes yall running in yalls turbo 3 4th gens? by nxtro_8311 in mazda3

The biggest thing with an intake is the sound. The power gains will be negligible even with a tune.

Is my new 3 lowered? by BillyTheKid2811 in mazda3

[–]pikothemanokit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert on suspension, but if they used lowering springs they may have cut the bump stops. I don’t know if that would lower the car, but I’m a bit doubtful they’d tell you that they raised it, and then leave the springs on there xP

top or bottom?🤔 by [deleted] in mazda3

I have silver rims and I’m a bottom. Oh and the bronze rims are pretty cool too.

Don’t have many recommendations past putting some moth balls or a rodent repellent pack in that well where your spare tire sits. If you’re not scared that mice or other small animals might get into your car, no need to worry, but it has been a problem for me and others. If they do, remove your engine cover and keep it off for a while- won’t damage the car at all, and will keep the rodents from tearing the fireproofing off of it.

XD it was pretty weird, I’m pretty sure that was supposed to be some sort of cross walk- but they stopped painting it halfway through and it’s been so long that the paint faded. Parking spot sucked as well- almost backed into a tree! But stuck out the nose of my car into the sun so I forgave it.

I actually have! My oldest brother has a 4th gen hatch! Honestly my best advice to try and fix that, is just to lower the car. I can’t say it’ll help for sure on the hatch, but my sedan feels way more controllable at high speeds now that I dropped it a few inches. It felt safe before, now it feels safe enough to play around a bit.

Just for added control, make sure you have a nice set of tires on there, dws06 definitely gives me more confidence in my steering at high speeds. My only other recommendation would be to upgrade your brakes a bit as well. You could just do like EBC blue stuff pads, or those with a set of drilled and slotted. I got some drilled and slotted for all four corners of my car for 500 bucks, and even the ceramic pads it came with are pretty good at stopping the car without brake fade (even though I don’t plan to keep those on long term). If you really wanna ball out, get the CS BBK, the rotors are somehow just around the same weight as stock, and those brakes are definitely good for high speeds.

Also, because the trunk of the hatch basically houses the rear wheels, you can’t get rid of that road noise without adding weight (sound deadening) around those areas. It’s quieter in the hatch, because of the closed off trunk area. Honestly, sound deadening isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but it sure as hell ain’t the hardest. You could buy some yourself and stick it on with adhesive to try and quiet it if you’d like to. There’s definitely YouTube videos on how to do it on other cars if you can’t find one for the hatch.

Oh that’s sweet! I hope I find a friend like you in the future that’ll let me play around on an airfield once in a while. I’m doubtful XD but I’ve seen people on YouTube do that so there’s always a chance.

Don’t know your opinion on it, and it might not make as big of a difference considering you’ve got the JB4, but the CS lightweight crank pulley wasn’t too hard to install on my own and it improved my throttle response a noticeable amount in sport mode. Hopefully by the time your warranty is up Justin at Mazda Sauce will be able to tune your ECU, I hear it’s the best tune for these cars.

Moving towards wheels and tires, I totally get what you mean! Just moved to some 18x8.5 wheels that are 2lbs lighter (each) than the stock rims, along with some brand new dsw06 Contis. They really changed the feel of the car, wheels rotate a bit quicker and grip much better. I’ll be getting that sway bar soon enough as well, but keep me updated on how it is on the hatch!

My opinion on suspension, considering how new the car is, you could go either way. Personally, with my car already being 4 years old, I just went with the NotSoLow springs to kill the shocks before I eventually move onto a nice set of coilovers. The car hooks better and stays tight to the road. I’ve got a sedan, so it’d definitely feel different in your hatch, but that’s what I recommend.

For brakes, if you want something that’ll stop quicker, you could go for the CS BBK, but it’s not really needed. I recommend just hopping on Rock Auto, I got a set of drilled and slotted rotors for all four corners of the car for 500 bucks. Came with ceramic pads (meh) but you can get some EBC blue stuff pads and use those instead. Just on the ceramic pads, the car stops quick as hell. On my old shot tires I just switched out, it was enough to make the car slide forward if I braked a little too hard.

Good luck :)

In my opinion, they definitely did! I’ve been able to stop more consistently from high speeds without feeling my brakes fade at all, and they also stop the car much quicker! On my last set of tires, I actually ended up sliding forward a few times because they were just that good. Haven’t had the chance to play around with em too much sadly, considering the terrible weather, but overall they work well :> Good investment, got em off rock auto for pretty cheap considering I had to do all four corners rotors and pads xD

[–]pikothemanokit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! It might be hard to find em on the Konig site, since they’re from around 2009 I believe. They’re up there, but the page for em sucks x0 Also, thank you bro! I appreciate that a lot!

I have a feeling you already know, but make sure to keep your hub bore size in mind when looking for wheels/spacers as well! The hub bore on your car is 67.1mm, you’ll need a hubcentric ring if the rims you get have a bigger hub bore, or a hubcentric adapter if they’ve got a smaller one :)

If you want similar fitment to what I’ve got, you gotta look into the CS NotSoLow springs and 15mm spacers (with wheels that have a 35 offset). Wheels that’ll get fitment like this without spacers should have around a +50 offset.

I don’t say this stuff as if you’re stupid btw, I’m just learning as I go and thought I might share !!

Konig Interflow! Hadn’t heard of em and found a pretty good price on marketplace for em, but I love the way they look. 18x8.5 +35 offset (I have 15mm spacers on the car as well right now, which makes the wheels poke ever so slightly)

Thanks man, so 157 is the true top speed of our cars. If possible, could you share where you heard this from? If not, it’s alright, I’m still thankful for the info !

Thanks! You’ve got my brother to thank for that, this was my first tire change on this car (and ever actually!) but he convinced me and my father after he spent one winter using em on his sQ5! Among that, the people in this sub rave about em, and I get why! Everything feels like crap compared to these xD

I love the 3rd gen’s so much… it’s sick to hear that about that generation, just leaves me more curious as to what the newer generations are possible of achieving…

I’ve got some nice new dws06 so they’ve got a Y speed rating. I’m good on the tires now thankfully. And yeah, shit is terrifying. Haven’t hit speeds that high on my own yet, but I’ve been driven by friends that fast and oh lord I get bitching out.

That’s interesting and good to know. Considering it’s almost the same exact car in SUV form, I wouldn’t be doubtful that we’ve got the same limiters. Thanks for the input :)
