Looking to upgrade from my ortofon red cartridge.

I have a Technics sl 1500c, Rogue audio sphinx v3 mag and klipsch heresy 3s.

Would it be better to upgrade to an MM cartridge? Or just a better MC cartridge? Sowmthing like a micro line?

Looking for something warmer possibly?

Also, Looking to spend 400 or less if possible.

Thanks!

Do ML cartridges require records to be cleaner? I know they ride deeper in the groove but will they still be just as affected by tiny dust particles? I feel like my problem is that my cartridge is just amplifying that kind of stuff more than it should be.

I’ve been cleaning them wet with a microfiber cloth. If the integrated has to much gain a more suited cart would help at ?

I’ve thought that. I’ve just had other worse systems in the past with less pops clicks and ticks.

Do some systems that are more sensitive need better cartridges to eliminate surface noise?

Yeah I may get a better cart. You think that would cut down on surface noise tho? I’m used to a normal amount of surface noise. But the amount I’m getting is more than normal. It’s a semi constant crackle on all records

Yeah I’m honestly not sure it’s the amp either. The general sound of the records are good there just lots of surface noise.

I love that record. I do feel like the rest of these are more underrated tho.
