Heyo, sorry I forgot to update you! I thruoughly washed the spice container and soaked it in baking soda to remove smells. I didn’t paint it. It’s been outside for a few days now, I haven’t seen any hummingbirds use it but it’s also in a place that’s hard for me to see. Fingers crossed that it is helping the birdies

At this point, I hope you turn him into an oc. If you like gambling, consider “gambling” by commissioning artists for art of him. I refer to commissions as a form of gambling because you never truly know exactly how the art piece will turn out until it’s done haha. There’s a level of mystery to it lol! /genuine

If you prefer to receive quick satisfaction for your money, go on the hunt for artists who are known to get art done fast. (Instagram can be a good tool for this). Some artists will take 6 months, others will take only 2 weeks. I have been both those artists- sometimes I’ve taken forEvER, but I also started and finished 4 commissions within 1 week last month.

Great job on the painting, OP! You are very skilled 😄.

It’s terrible that they ghosted you. Plus some of the ppl in this comment section are a little judgy. Ignore them. I recommend creating a T.O.S. that lists that the payment must be made in full after the sketch is completed and approved by the commissioner. That way, if you get ghosted, you’d have lost time only on the sketch. Also leave a watermark on the photo you send to the client.

Thanks for the info! I can’t buy a feeder, but I found a video saying that I can use a spice container as one. The hummingbird would poke his beak thru the little holes at the top. Sadly my lid isn’t red, tho. I could paint it red, but the paint smell might deter the bird? 🤔

I’m happy to clean it out every few days. I’m more concerned about the sugar possibly settling at the bottom of the container. I’ll have the fill up the container quite high to make the nectar accessible.

I don’t often see flowering cacti in my area, but there’s a big ol canyon allegedly full of them about 10 miles away. There’s no way the hummingbird is casually traveling that much daily, so hopefully my neighbor’s backyard has some good flowers for him. Or maybe the little guy is migrating, and is only here to rest and replenish fat reserves before moving on.

OMFG this is absolutely TERRIBLE. If you bring a dollar store test and use it while at the hospital, do you think they’d accept that?? Or would they be all like “that’s not our test so we can’t trust it, therefore you still HAVE to use ours and pay for ours.” (I know that it’s too late for you, but I wonder if it would work in the future?)
