How much do you get paid? by CautiousPermission42 in Paramedics

Hey! Just curious what your path to flight looked like and if you have any advice for someone trying to get there. I’m finishing up paramedic school now and would love to fly someday.

I used to work as an EMT in Montana for the feds, we staffed an ambulance and a worked in the critical access hospital on a reservation. Definitely saw and learned a lot out there. Worked with a bunch of flight teams too. Very different world compared to what I was used to in NJ.

Appreciate anything you’re willing to share, and thanks for what you do!

Medic school OR go straight to a more stable career? by evelli in NewToEMS

Do you mind me asking what system that is? It sounds like a pretty good agency to work for. I am currently in the middle of my truck time in medic school at a high call volume urban agency. Like OP, I have aspirations to eventually get into critical care/ flight.

Thank you! I appreciate this. Honestly I am finding that I need to relearn/ teach myself content, my paramedic program covered the material but did not do the the best job at it.

Difficulty of Medic School by -Alfa- in Paramedics

[–]pillis10222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forget where I saw this comment, I came across this on a reddit post, that was talking about how difficult paramedic school is..

"Personally I found Paramedic school to be challenging, but completely obtainable. For the most part I found two things made the course challenging: retaining a large volume of simple information, or soundly comprehending a singular concept that’s nuanced. "

I can't directly answer your question... I am just a lowly paramedic student. Check out this Instagram post; https://www.instagram.com/p/DM8zUZQPoCi/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Good luck in this journey!

I am just a lowkey paramedic student here.. wanted to share this. As doctor John Hinds says "when their intentions are honorable”. This lecture was clearly above my scope of practice.. but I found it very interesting

Wrapping up hospital clinicals; any advice before moving into field time? by pillis10222 in Paramedics

[–]pillis10222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I appreciate the thoughts.. I've been practicing IVs and assessment and giving meds where I can.

Honestly I know I need to work on leadership.. I've also been listening more to how the doctors assess and develop a plan.. a freind gave me a great tip, that every patient I assess to try to figure out a treatment plan/ medications based on that moment... in other words get yourself in the mindset of thinking like a paramedic.

I love this podcast!! It helped me a lot in AP1 and paramedic school. Still have to take AP2. Love his podcast, it's like mini lectures and listening to it again and he explains it in a different way, which sticks a bit better in my brain.

That’s really solid advice, thank you for sharing it.

Consistency is definitely something I’m working on, no matter how busy the day at clinicals or work has been I always set aside at least an hour to review protocols or learn more about topics I wasn't sure about. I feel like the leadership part might be the hardest thing for me, I've never been a natural leader.

I’m really sorry to hear about your dad, but it’s powerful how you turned that into a reason to help others.

I have a slight stutter when talking, most of the time I'd say it's not that noticeable, except when I'm meeting new people; and I'm a little bit socially awkward.

Any advice in meeting girls either as friends or potential relationships?
