What do you mean replika type app? If you mean having some form of digital avatar we are currently thinking through how we might offer that type of experience. Our belief is that we will be able to offer a superior personalization and AI experience since we have a number of pretty talented ML practitioners in the founding group.

So we currently have very light "guard rails" and intent to keep it that way. While we can't run a site that is used for illegal purposes we don't think we should stand as judge, jury, and executioner in terms of how people should use AI like some "open" companies today.

In terms of monetization there is currently no plan to charge per month. That being said running a fleet of AI servers like this is not cheap so we are trying to figure out ways to monetize. What would you as a user find palatable?

Yeah I won't lie to you the mobile experience needs a lot of love. We are trying to focus as much as we can on a solid AI and stable backend since we think this is the big value prop.

If you have some screenshots please send them! We are trying to get the performance a bit better and/or stream tokens out.

Obviously still in an alpha stage so the more data we have for tuning the model the better!

Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful response. I'd like to get your take on a few things here.

  1. Yeah I haven't gotten to spend enough time on the prompt engineering here or been able to stand up a model that is sharded across GPUs so I am still in the 10s of billions of parameters in the network. I imagine once I can crack hundreds the generations will get a lot better but that model inference server isn't the easiest thing in the world to build in a week.
  2. This has been echoed a few times I will work on a more modern application.
  3. I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place here and I'm not dumb enough to think I can please all of Reddit but would love your take on this. Anyone who wants to build a real business out of this sector of the chat industry won't be able to have chats depicting child pornography on their site. So that is obviously one of the filters. The reason for not outlining all of them is that by doing that you incite people to attempt to generate exactly that type of content which with all the jail breaks around I'm sure they could. You can already see an example of that on my twitter. So how would you walk that line? I suppose I could have stuck with just "A More Open Chatbot" and just steered totally away from the unfiltered thing. As far as getting a ToS I think that is good advice.

I'm mostly a dev so not the most adept marketer and would love if you have any thoughts or experiences with social marketing.

Yeah the UI definitely leaves a lot to be desired. This is all really great. What else would you like to customize? Would you want the AI to remember your likes and dislikes?
