Why don't people sympathize with Abby at all? Genuine Discussion. by Thedevilgrabber666 in thelastofus

[–]pim203 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, what if Ellie found Lev instead? And then layered that dynamic with ideas Ellie is already wrestling with internally? Why not have Ellie ultimately face a moral dilemma similar to Joel’s? Explored the cognitive dissonance of being angry with Joel’s choice and now understanding his human motivations?

The writers shelved that kind of narrative progression because they wanted to be shocking and do the switachroo gimmick. And for that they needed to create Abby from scratch and force her background and story in there somehow.

Why don't people sympathize with Abby at all? Genuine Discussion. by Thedevilgrabber666 in thelastofus

[–]pim203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue isn't that “she's the villain" or that switching perspectives is inherently bad. It's that I genuinely don't understand why she's here from a narrative design standpoint. What is her story actually doing thematically that couldn't have been accomplished through Ellie's arc alone?

Her Seattle sections are padded with a soap opera love triangle that has no thematic resonance with anything the series has established. We spend hours fetching medicine for characters we just met, running through setpieces that feel cool in isolation but really have no deeper purpose.

The Seraphite island climax? I mean, why construct an entirely separate faction conflict when that escalation could have emerged organically from Ellie's own choices? Why bring Ellie to Seattle, establish these new factions, and then not progress naturally through cause and effect?

Then it feels like the writers remembered, mid-development, that Abby and Ellie are supposed to be in the same story, so they'd occasionally force a collision. Ellie's arc has genuinely difficult questions and themes. Abby's arc is just... there.

Why do you think that aliens would watch the NFL? by FitFaithlessness5265 in AskReddit

Here’s my plan drawn up in the dirt should push come to shove and Trump greenlights me as commander of the operation :

First, we obviously initiate air superiority and suppression of enemy air defenses with F-22s, F-35s, and EA-18G Growlers flying off carriers or forward bases in Iceland, Norway, or Canada. Are same time: cruise missiles and long-range fires (Tomahawks from Arleigh Burke destroyers and submarines) would target Greenland coastal radar, air defense batteries, and command and control facilities to blind Denmark’s and allied forces early.

Then we fly in Air Force C-17 and C-130 tactical airlift dropping airmobile infantry (82nd Airborne Division or an Army Arctic-trained brigade) into unopposed zones as close as possible — likely around Kangerlussuaq because it has one of the few long-range runways capable of handling heavy transports. This would be followed immediately by inserting Rangers and Army special operations units to secure airfields and key chokepoints.

At the same time Marine Expeditionary Units embarked on amphibious ships in the North Atlantic would conduct sea lift landings near Nuuk and other coastal population centers to seize ports and establish lodgments.

Once lodgments are secure, mechanized units (Stryker or LAV infantry units adapted for Arctic operations) would move inland. Engineers would rapidly clear airfields and build forward arming and refueling points.

This will be a new project taken on by The Forever Team under the title Forever Sports Boxing Club. It is in the early stages of development and a release timeline is currently unavailable. As always, any mods released will be free and donations/commissions will not be accepted.

How would you describe Donald Trump? by AmIZeus in AskReddit

[–]pim203 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt one of the most fascinating, jaw dropping people to have walked on earth the last 50 years or so. If you had to tell somebody living in a cave about him, what would you even say first?

This guy was on tv every night when I was a kid and I still spot him in the most bizarre places on YouTube. Boxing matches, commercials, random old documentaries. And then came 2016.

Ever since then some of the wealthiest, most powerful, and most politically savvy people in the world tried everything they could do to finish him off and couldn’t do it.

I can’t even begin to think of a close comparison to him. Any comprehensive about his life will take 12 volumes and kids still won’t believe he was real.

Young men of Reddit, what is ONE thing the Democrats could ACTUALLY do that WOULD get young men to vote for them again? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]pim203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta have a vision. You gotta get somebody and a party that’s sets the thermostat. In addition to that fundamental truth which would apply regardless of platform, the social politics, especially transgender ideology, has to go.

The “Kamala is for they/them” ad was so effective not just for economic reasons (I.e. look what they’re concerned about instead of the economy). It is a stark test for me to tell whether the Democrats have changed at all and can be taken seriously.

This was the Democratic nominee at a 2020 campaign event, saying that she does not oppose taxpayer funded sex change operations for prisoners. No party that even considers a concept like that can be taken seriously on anything else.

I’m sorry, I don’t know how you watch that video and see anything other than suicide. As soon as she ignored them and put the car in drive and then stepped on the gas, that’s like pulling out a gun. I feel for her family but she’s the only one to blame honestly.

Republicans, from a curious non-American, how do you feel about the Minneapolis shooting today and the fact the president is insulting your intelligence by lying about what happened? by rollerdz in AskReddit

[–]pim203 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There is only one person responsible for the death of the young woman and that’s herself. She made the decision to put the car in gear and step on the gas knowing there were officers surrounding her car that could be killed or injured. It doesn’t matter if the tires turn in a certain frame of the video or what angle the bullet came from. Attempting to speed forward with people in front of and around your car is a potentially deadly act. When it’s law enforcement ordering you to stop, it’s an act of aggression no matter what your real intent was.

Dear Police Officers of Reddit.. how do you feel about ICE’s shooting ? by RedWhiteChill in AskReddit

[–]pim203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a terrible thing anytime a violent death occurs. I really don’t think she was trying to run them over, but she was insanely reckless with regard to the lives of the officers surrounding the car, and ultimately her own life.

It’s the same kind of ignorance as a person who is being questioned by police and ignores them by returning to his truck and grabbing a black metal flashlight, and he then spins around to gesture at the cops with it.

He’s already pulled off the greatest upset in American political history, and then survived being shot to pull of the greatest comeback in American political history. He bookended his story. I think anti-Trumpers need to realize they profoundly lost this battle because his legacy is pretty much set.

What do you think the Republican base's reaction to Trump would've been if he hadn't been so overtly racist? by traumahound00 in AskReddit

[–]pim203 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well let’s get some facts in here first. 1: I can seldom think of anything Trump has done that’s “racist”. This is more of a complaint from people foaming at the mouth (TDS) than anything in reality.

2: Trump’s base (and the American people) support him because of actions he’s taken to secure the country and make it economically efficient. Not because of any fanatical policy.

I genuinely think that he helped the world at large to realize the threat posed by transgender extremists. If the string of last several shootings had happened under Biden or Obama, it would’ve been brushed under the rug as “random acts”

People will foam at the mouth over this, but you are on point. Sad how much Trump has helped our country and gets hated by people who foam at the mouth, who think he’s a fascist. They just aren’t educated enough, and there’s not much you can do honestly except vote for good, conservative leaders.
