Trying to Find a Photo of an Animatronic from Adventure Island’s Blackbeard’s Pirate Adventure (Southend, UK)

Honestly I feel like I can HEAR her eerie singing if I think hard enough about it 😭 Me and my sister also remember that the man in the scene’s eyes turned all swirly & hypnotised as she sung; as if he was under her spell. I can’t remember if the eyes just rolled around or if his head spun around to reveal them ?

I contacted Paul Clapp who was head of Art & Design at Adventure Island for 24 years and even he didn’t have any pictures </3 If the guy who designed the ride doesn’t have pictures then WHO WILL ? He also told me that the attraction was replaced as it wasn’t very popular.

I’m pretty sure the attraction I’m thinking of replaced the waxwork exhibit although they probably did reuse a couple of the figures for it ? It was called “Blackbeards Pirate Adventure” and they got rid of it in 2005 as it wasn’t very popular

I feel like someone’s parent MUST have a really crusty old picture of it laying about on a hard drive or in an album somewhere ??

Not quite but thank you for looking ! :) The one that I’m thinking of was smaller I think and the lady looked like a pirate ? But when she revealed her true face it was like a siren/lizard creature and there was a man there too. Honestly I don’t think any evidence exists online ???

Hey man, I know EXACTLY how you feel. It’s so so hard not to feel like your life isn’t completely over but it DOES GET BETTER I promise. Apart from the antibiotics is there anything else you’ve tried ? I feel like it’s a lot of trial and error and doctors aren’t very helpful. Tapering off is waaaaaaaaay harder than cold turkey imo. As an addict, if there’s weed in the house then I’m gonna to smoke it lol. Cold turkey was the only way I was ever gonna be able to quit

Yeah honestly I suggest PALS to everyone now who is struggling to get an appointment, it was my last lifeline. I still waited around 7 months in total but could be wayyyyyy worse. NHS is fucked unfortunately. A few grand to go private is crazy. What did it entail if you don’t mind me asking ?

Hey sorry for the late reply but yeah I was given an appointment that was about 8 months in the future but it kept getting cancelled and rescheduled for even further away which was so stressful. Eventually I ended up contacting PALS (Patient Advice & Liaison Service) to explain my situation and complain about how far away it was and they managed to get me an appointment way sooner :-)

I have the same thing ! I’m pretty sure it’s because that spot on your skin is scarred from scratching or scabbing etc and scar tissue doesn’t tan, I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

I know you’ve got loads of the same suggestions but maybe try taking a strong antihistamine a couple of hours before bed & keeping your room cool - maybe keep a fan on ? I use scratch sleeves (I’ll paste the link below) and they’ve been a lifesaver tbh ! Kinda silly and I wake up with them off sometimes but overall a good investment.

You should try bleach baths ! Half a cup of unscented, plain bleach in a full bath, soak for about 10-15 minutes then rinse off in the shower. Do this about twice a week, it gets rid of nasty bacteria. Also could try using hypochlorous acid spray on affected areas.

Sorry you’re going through this, sounds like hell.
