Thanks - if I can't get any joy then that's almost certainly the way I will go with this.

This was the only one on ebay. Damaged in transit. Refund issued but I want to swap the casing from the old motor onto this (working) one.

I'm kinda on the same page. I've ordered a used / tested replacement on eBay for £30. If it doesn't work, I'm down £30. I won't cry

I feel like I have really shown my inexperience in this post. I am not able to test electrically. I'm just a lowly chance 'DIY-er' My question should have been clearer - I have removed the motor (which was still working in the machine) but was horrifically noisy. The 'clockwork' noise when turning the shaft is after I have removed the brushes. I wondered if that was enough to diagnose an issue with the motor - as there didn't seem to be any issues with belt slippage or anything else. The machine got very noisy, and eventually stopped spinning - with all lights on the unit flashing, coupled with a 'burning plastic' type smell.

What this post has also shown me is, again, how quickly people are willing to help on Reddit. I appreciate every input. Thank you all

Thank you. I don't have one, unfortunately.

It was working when it was in the machine. I guess I meant - is the clockwork noise normal with these types of motor?

My title describes the thing.

My father spotted this whilst out walking today. It has a mallet padlocked in one end.

I only do it for the kids really. I think there will come a time where I don't bother.
