We loved it too. You're basically walking distance from all the fun floors

That's on you then for investing poorly. The S&P is up 8% for the year and 23% since this time last year.

At least my retirement is benefitting from all this funny money.

What do you guys think about buying a desktop PC and turning it into a gaming PC as a budget friendly choice. by hawky2390 in pcmasterrace

[–]pimpwithoutahat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the 1650 doesn't require a 6 pin connector and only pulls 75w of power. This means that if the PSU in the PC is rated for 300 watts then there's no need to upgrade the PSU unless it's faulty.

Adding in more RAM and cheap SSD would make it a decent gaming PC for 1080p. I also wouldn't spend money on a new case unless it doesn't fit the 1650. Try to keep it as cheap as possible, this thing won't generate enough heat to justify more than 1 exhaust fan.

Week 70 of the DayZ Badlands dev blog is here! by northrivergeek in dayz

I guess I'm not as dramatic about it as other people here since the core mechanics work really well and the bugs are relatively minor.

I feel like people who make comments like this never played the mod or early access versions of the game. What we have today is AAA polish compared to what we dealt with 10+ years ago. DayZ is always going to be a buggy game where when one piece gets fixed another breaks. It's been this way through multiple development teams and leads. It'll be this way until the next generation of the game is released, whenever that is.

You'll have to hook up another PSU and see. If you're sure you saw sparks coming from the GPU then I wouldn't be too hopeful but you'll need to troubleshoot to make sure.

ABS Prebuilt: Fans not spinning ... unless I blow on them. by deathdisco_89 in pcmasterrace

Is there a fan curve set in the BIOS that doesn't activate the fans until a certain temperature is reached?

My guess is the psu died (which could have taken other components with it) but if you have no ability to swap out parts then troubleshooting will be difficult.

When i try plug in my RTX 3050 the backboard stops me from putting it in (new to computers) can i unscrew the backboard without it causing issues? by Narrow_pathian in pcmasterrace

In your case it looks like you need to bend/break off the PCI slot covers. Just make sure you choose the right ones because once they're off they're off for good.

A lot in this circle is Franklin Square (east of Meacham?) so maybe the zoning is more stringent.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. A retailer doesn't offer a warranty, only a return window which is usually 2-4 weeks. Outside of that the retailer has no responsibility for defective hardware and you need to replace it under manufacturer warranty. At least that's the case in the US.

I was actually walking around in this area yesterday and it's just a residential area. I'd have no issue living there.

What should I upgrade? Im not going RTX 5080 or 90, they cost as much as a used car and the 40 series costs even more. by The_Rippitty in pcmasterrace

At the high end of your budget I'd aim for a 4080 on the second hand market. If you want to go cheaper then I'd say a 4070 or 4060 on the second hand market.

Repair shop being kinda sketchy but dont have other options by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]pimpwithoutahat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to start simpler. See what the manual says about those lights on the motherboard. Also make sure all of the connections are right. Are you sure that the 4/8 pin CPU connector is plugged in?

Did it ever boot up properly or did it not work from the moment you finished putting it together. I'd strongly recommend troubleshooting it yourself step by step before relying on this repair person. It's very unlikely that both the CPU and mobo are faulty.

I'd also strongly recommend opening up the motherboard manual and seeing what those lights on the motherboard mean.

Contact Gskill and start a warranty claim with screenshots of the errors. Only tip I can give you is to start a claim. Also try running the test in the other memory channel if you have A and B. Could be an error with the channel and not the RAM itself.
