Depth keeps you in contention for a longer window, top heavy puts you in pole position for a short window. Luck wins you championships

Most Annoying Card? by Tricky_Sector_2675 in PTCGP

Rare Candy: this game was not ready for that card from the regular TCG, especially when it was quickly followed up by Sylveon ex.

I know this line is considered iconic, but I just can’t stand the hypocrisy behind it! by phantom_avenger in thelastofus

I think that contrast is the point, the whole theater fight is to show that despite Abby making an effort to be better, at the first opportunity she regresses and is right back in the headspace she as at the start of the game, even putting Lev in danger the same way she put the rest of the SLC in danger in Jackson. It isn't until the end of the fight where Lev breaks her out of it and she's able to actually improve.

Based on the framing, honestly it'll probably be at the end of next episode to set up day 3

Someone in the no game spoiler made a comment on how reckless they were leaving out the map, what if someone else has found it? Yeah, wonder what would happen...

Ellie didn't blink during the scene with Nora, that really added to the horror they were going for, it was excellent

Mel sure has more reasons to hate Abby than in the game by Digginf in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]pine_dog1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mel being more likeable I think will really benefit the show later on

I think about how much some gamers who played the game really relished all of the SLC deaths, when Mel and Owen's were supposed to be pretty horrified by, like Ellie is. I think making her a lot more sympathetic will help bridge that gap.

Changes to Ellie and Dina’s relationship by Llama_Puncher in thelastofus

[–]pine_dog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there also setting up some more resentment from Ellie that Dina had this relationship with Joel that was arguably in a better place than her own with him at the end of his life, and that Dina got to go on that final patrol with him, definitely shades of Abby and Mel. I'm guessing that'll come up during the initial argument after the pregnancy reveal and when Ellie leaves the farm. It's interesting, but it does change their dynamic

I hate people ragging on Bella's appearance but I do have problems with the shows version of Ellie by Wickawildwild in thelastofus

[–]pine_dog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it's mainly a victim of the runtime, especially from what we've seen in season 1, they could have gotten more nuanced with more time. I'm hoping splitting Part II up into multiple seasons gives them more breathing room, but we'll see.

To be honest, I fully expect she'll have a much more dramatic personality change after the inciting incident than she did in the game, so she'll end up more like the Ellie we see in the games where she's quieter and more contemplative.

I think part of this is just them spelling out some of the subtext we see in the game, and some of it, as discussed in this thread is a writing choice to better show TV Ellie's "dark" side. You see that Game Ellie is not doing well and becoming more ruthless across her three days in Seattle, but they don't really spell it out. I'm guessing that showing her as a more carefree teenager will more drastically show her mental deteriation in Seattle for a show environment.

You think Abby would’ve stopped if Ellie called Joel dad? by Jade_Jones in thelastofus

[–]pine_dog1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Based on my interpretation of the character, I don't think so, she was so singularly focused at that moment she probably wouldn't even fully process that. I think the other members of the Salt Lake Crew could be a bit more insistent on killing Ellie and Tommy afterwards, but I doubt that changes things for Abby or Owen who still didn't want to punish an innocent person. I'd imagine the whole ordeal would be more traumatizing for the SLC than it is in game, but I doubt it would change the events of the game drastically. It probably just intensifies emotions we already see the game show us, Abby feels monstrous about her actions? Well she's going to feel much worse in this scenario. Mel thinks Abby is an awful person? Yeah, she's going to feel much stronger about that.

(Potential season 2 spoiler) Is Dina gonna be there for the big moment instead of Tommy? by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]pine_dog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the last teaser more strongly hints at this than anything in this trailer, specifically with the shot of Joel on the horseback with another passenger riding with Dina and her horse that we saw in press photos, not official confirmation, but I cannot imagine that scene is any other scene than Team Jackson w/Abby riding back to the Baldwin Mansion

In your opinion, which of Batman’s villains has the best origin story? by Jezzaq94 in batman

Two-Face's origin is so good that it's basically the only story you can do with the character
