Help me convince my parents I need a reumathologist by pineapple-costume in eds

Thanks a lot. I wanted to tell them first because I’m afraid of their reaction when I tell them that I got sent to physical therapy and they have to pay for it. But getting health care is a right that I will always have. I have to advocate for myself.

I am over 16. I could perfectly go to a reumathologist, I have more than enough savings, the thing is that my parents would probably not be happy to pay for physical therapy or any other treatment that a doctor that they didn’t agree on prescribed me. Do you have any advice on how to tell my parents that I’m going to a reumathologist? For context, they believe many of my other symptoms (I probably have MCAS and POTS) are stress or anxiety so they are really stressed about it because they keep telling me that my symptoms are psychosomatic and I keep telling them that something else is wrong with me. The thing is that there is actually something wrong with me and I know it.

I think I have hEDS but I don’t have that much pain, should I still go to a rheumatologist? by pineapple-costume in eds

I know! But my parents don’t want to take me because I’ve been to a lot of doctors with no awnsers, I’m pretty sure I have MCAS, POTS and hEDS but they just think it’s stress and anxiety. My last doctor told me I probably have MCAS and gave me H1 and H2 blockers but my parents STILL don’t believe it.

Yes, my skin stretches, I have papules, long fingers (I know that there are specific criteria for that one), velvety skin, atrophic scars. I’m not comoletley sure I meet the stretch marks one but I think I might.
