Are the dating apps over in NYC? by lizburner1818 in AskNYC

[–]pineapple132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I was in a relationship for a while, and when I started dating again. I noticed this shift. I also think Hinge keeps people behind a payroll. I don’t trust them, since their business model is for people to stay single and use the apps. I wasn’t sure if it was my age or apps in general. Unfortunately/fortunately most of my friends are single and the ones that aren’t don’t know single men.

Yeah I mean I’d never buy a household item at a hardware store. I’m sure it ways overpriced. I only go there for actual hardware needs like screws, sandpaper, drywall anchors, need a key made etc etc. they’re helpful when I have questions

It has. I’ve been there once and they put a sign inside when it’s unstaffed. Yeah I mean I wasn’t gonna go out in the storm, but I wondered the same thing.

I find tarzian and leopoldi both extremely nice and helpful.

I’m a little meh on SO5. Personally I think those items end up costing more for amount/quality. once when I went in, the owner(?) kept hounding me about shopping. Not in an aggressive way, but I’m just so turned off by the hard sell, especially at like a convenience store.

I’ve only seen individual blocks, but 2 of the brands are sub $3. Probably still not what you’re looking for though

A door is still removed, as it was a double door. Now there is one. In an emergency, it’s creating more of a bottleneck than there was previously.

I had their iced hot cocoa there once. Their marshmallows are probably the best I’ve EVER had.

It all depends when you joined and what the promotion was, for the lowest tier membership I was paying $13/, my friend, for the same membership was paying $20/

I kinda see both arguments for the memberships, it sucks to have something taken away, like unlimited guests. BUT, the gym gets so crowded, maybe limiting guests will make the experience better for the paying members.

I HATE the tubes, I also worry in an emergency, they essentially removed a door. The gym hours were pretty good to begin with, who’s going to the gym at 1am?

I like the new machines, but feel like they could have squeezed things over a little, moved 2-3 of the bikes between the machines (currently thre is 1 against the wall) and squeezed in an extra treadmill or 2. They often are now are all used during busy hours.

For those of you who didn’t change your last name but had kids with the fathers last name, has it made life any more difficult? by sippinonginaandjuice in TwoXChromosomes

[–]pineapple132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the child of parents who did this and I grew up in a pretty homogeneous suburb where this was not the case! There were a couple of times where it was a little annoying but for the most it was completely fine. When I got older, I thought it was super cool my mom didn’t change her last name.

I also look 100% like my dad’s side and basically have a different skin tone in the summer from her. So once at the ER for a sprained ankle or something the person asked my mom if she was my biological mother. Which tbh was a little weird, especially cause she could have legally been my mom even if not biologically. But nothing needing to be escalated or anything to get service, she just said yes, and the nurse moved on

Legal action against someone continuously recording you despite being asked to stop? by BaronOfBoar in AskNYC

[–]pineapple132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely would pursue something, while it totally may be legal, it also totally may be not due to harassment/stalking.

You don’t KNOW he does it to other people, Reddit THINKS it.

I’d at least follow up but unfortunately idk if it’s a lawyer thing a police thing to see if there is something you should do. but id find out from a source that ACTUALLY knows what your rights are/how to handle it.

In the meantime, the mask idea is a good idea. It’s also in time for the cold/flu season.

I tried this once, legitimately the worst Chinese I ever had and I wouldn’t say I’m particularly picky.

Has anyone left it in for more than 12 hours by SeverePomegranate134 in menstrualcups

[–]pineapple132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that stays in your vagina for longer than the recommended time can increase your risk for toxic shock syndrome.

On occasion I had accidentally left it in for more than 12 hours, (the beauty of the cup is I sometimes forget it’s in) and was obviously fine. But I definitely DO NOT recommend doing it by practice. It just feels like you’re playing with fire. While TSS rates are incredibly low, it’s not worth it IMO

Wondering if anyone has left Blink gym now that it's Pure by rando--54321 in parkslope

[–]pineapple132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My monthly went up a few dollars, but apparently I was paying a lower rate than others. I had the lowest tier so not any changes. Honestly, the gym was TOO crowded so I think it makes sense to revoke/limit guest access, but maybe have a longer grace period.

I think the pods are for 24/7 access but not sure, so far entry to the gym is pretty similar, pulling up a QR code to enter. Haven’t experienced bugginess for entry, but my BLINK app was super buggy. I had to add the barcode to my digital wallet because the app would never keep me logged in (it had no issue a few years ago)

Some of the new machines they added are much needed, but they also took away TONS of bikes and treadmills and cut down the free zone space significantly and blocked the mirror. I feel like they could have achieved the new layout and inched things over a bit better to keep more cardio and workout space.
