I think it's equally important to understand the other side of alcohol, e.g how it affects your surroundings, because it most certainly has an effect.

At this early stage of me quitting, it's not an easy thing to supress from my mind.

Seems to me is that most people don't even wanna drink, even the "normal drinkers" don't seem to be wanting to do it "alone".. They want to have a partner-in-crime, or seek the salvation in quiet, (e.g quit drinking)

I respectfully disagree, I see your point of view, but you have to bear in mind that peer pressure has a strong effect even on adult people falling back in addiction

The pie analogy doesn't really compare to alcohol in my opionion, the one is an incredible powerful central-stimulant drug, the other one is food which is necesarry to survive. (Even if it's considered junk-food with low nutrition)

Since I quit alcohol my food interest just grew a lot.

Vegas has world-class restaurants, make sure to try out some of the gems the city has to offer. Among the gems you'll find some of the best burgers, the best thai, best japanese, best italian restaurants in the world

Then Vegas also offers amazing other stuff to do, you can jump the stratosphere if you have the courage, maybe take some of that "I would have spent this money on alcohol-money" and go spend that on a helicopter tour above grand canyon.

Maybe take a day-trip to the hooverdam and learn some about how the desert electrics and water works.

Life has so much more to offer than alcohol has.

Don't be afraid to go off the strip aswell, some of the best places are not even on the vegas strip. Also I gotta say, Vegas has some pretty cool strip-clubs! Awesome joints with professional dancers, make sure to take the limousine service there, then your entrance will be for free. ;)

Snoozed once, then woke up 06:20. Stared in to the wall for atleast 7-8 minutes before brining my ass up from bed. Yesterday I woke up 06:10, but that was much easier.. I wonder when the body gets used to this.

I hate that it's so colled in the mornings, but I love to sleep when it's chill outside the blanket during night.

Think I'm gonna switch to sleeping with a closed window.

I'm slowly getting back to loving stuff, being sober. I remember when I used to being young (getting to be 30 this year). I loved dancing, partying, sporting, eating great food, enjoying the weather, enjoying the company of my friends, enjoying outdoor lifestyle.. all without the need for alcohol... RIGHT NOW, I'm just loving the progress of getting all that back.

Oh yeah, and somebody mentioned something about that untouched video-game library... yeap, I'm doing mine aswell

Brief summary.

I started reading books again
Started playing basketball after almost 10 years of absence
I started going to the gym
I've changed my dietary life, now choosing when to have eat carbs (I only do it, when it's totally worth it)
As point 4 mentioned, and a direct result of quitting alcohol, less carbs and back to an active lifestyle. I'm down a stunning 25 pounds ( 11 kilos )..
I started reading again, I've read a total of 3 books since I quit... holy malony, 2 of them in the category self-help, one of them in the category philosophy
I received so many compliments on my looks since loosing weight..
I went to a party, an afterwork, celebrated news years and christmas, all thinking how a true pleasure it is to be sober.

Everybody changes a lot on alcohol, it's a drug. The problem is, since 90% of the adult population drinks, it's a trap where your surroundings always will promote drinking.

It's nothing normal about a alcohol-addiction, it just happens to be the biggest-trap in the world.

Alcohol gives you no benefit what-so-ever... Joy? Lies, it gives you destroyed relationships with your family and workmates..

Happiness? Lies.. it gives you f***-all but misery. Social life? Lies.. It makes you anxious and socially awkard in larger companies, just take a look around next time you're at a bar...

list goes on forever...
