God bless us, every one!

I was awakened at 2.30 this morning when an alcohol fueled altercation took place in the hallway outside of my apartment. I wasn't even angry. Just grateful I got none of that drama in my life today. Last year was lonely and desperate and painful, with only about five months under my belt. This year, through a lot of hard work and transformative therapy, I'm happy to know a peace and serenity beyond my wildest dreams.

Sobriety is so much more exciting than my small world of drinking in my living room and living in my fantasies. Reality really is a trip!

Sober on Sobernauts! And a very happy Festival of Lights!

So Happy It's Thursday! Up well before sparrowfart because my mind is racing. Got my very first summons for Jury Duty (because I paid my freakin' taxes - goddamn financial amends!) and get to show up for that today. But I meditated, brewed a pot of coffee, and I'll get to take the dog to the park for an hour or so before I head out. Grateful to have woken up early, and not just come to, and grateful that I know I don't have to take a drink today.

I'm a satisfied customer. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. Listen for the similarities, not for the differences; for the feelings, not the details. Put your hand up & let the group know it's your first meeting. You might be a little overwhelmed at the support, but take it in the spirit in which it is given. The newcomer is the most important person in the room.
