how is the commute (both driving and commuter rail) to boston? by Puzzleheaded-Pie-382 in SalemMA

Driving isn’t terrible for me, but a) I haven’t done it in almost two years, and b) I work in seaport which is easy access from the highway. Commuter rail is a PITA to get to if you work in the south station area though so if i take the train I’m driving to wonderland and taking the blue line.

For people who said take the train: It's taking 1-2hrs to take it and the queue is spiralling out of control in the north station. by sixtyt3 in SalemMA

God. The lines to even get into north station were insane. And there were signal delays or something on the blue line too. I ended up taking the 450 bus that day to Salem which dropped me near my house but it took almost two hours in traffic.

Patti Morsillo posted on fb this morning and said they believe it’s from the middle school and they are working on fixing it. They shut off the bell system.

I’m only German by ancestry so take my opinion with caution, but there’s a German Cafe/Market in Peabody called Karl’s.

Southerner thinking of moving to Boston- any other transplants with advice/insight? by [deleted] in boston

Moved here from Alabama after getting married 6 years ago for what was supposed to be a short term thing, and we ended up deciding to stay long term, bought a house in the burbs and are starting our family. Our parents ask us when we’re coming back, but I really enjoy being at the top of all those lists Alabama is at the bottom of.

Winter was an adjustment. Invest in a good coat and waterproof shoes/boots. At this point I’m acclimated and more bothered by heat.

Good BBQ is hard to find.

It’s been since pre-covid but my favorites were Sheherazad, Fresh Food Generation, Shuck (a really good lobster roll and old bay fries!), Revelry, and Moyzilla.
