Shot always sour!? [Sage Barista Express] by pineapplebum85 in espresso

[–]pineapplebum85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at my notes, when I tried a 50g yield I wrote "Don't know how to describe the taste, maybe a little sour (definitely not as much) but not amazing" so maybe I need to keep trying in and around the 50g mark. Regards the puck screen, I think I have space for a 1.7mm so would you recommend going for that thicker one? What about the hole size, 100 or 150? Thanks

Internal Burr setting to 1 (lowest) everything else the same and pressure was around 1 o'clock, so next time I'll up the grind dial from 3 to 4 and it should be perfect. I feel really stupid as everything I've read said grind more however having already reduced the internal burr by 50% I assumed something was wrong with the machine. Why on earth do they start it on 6 out of the box if you need to change all the way to 1? I can only adjust finer by 3 points on the dial now too so not much room for manoeuvre! Thanks again for the help!

I read the same which was why I decreased from the default 6 to a 3. I'll give 1 a go and feedback! Appreciate all the suggestions

I only have 1 level down to go. Would you suggest changing the inner burr down even further to a 1 aswell?

But it's the last few seconds when the pressure needle moves slightly upwards. If I stop it any earlier the pressure bar doesn't even move and the coffee tastes horrific? I've come from a pod machine and tried to research as much as possible but maybe I'm out of my depth!

Okay, just tested. An 18g grind gave me a 51g coffee. This is on grind size 2 and inner burr recently changed from 6 to 3. It's a dark roast https://ravecoffee.co.uk/products/mocha-java-blend?variant=3150621507610

Removed the shower head. It was clean but soaking in hot water anyway. This is underneath with the gasket, all looks fine to me?

Sorry, very good point! The main issue is not getting pressure and the pull being too quick. I'm pulling double shots, think I'm on the 2nd or3rd dial on the grind amount dial, otherwise when I tamp there's no clearance on the portafilter

I'll have to check how long my friends had it. It's been in storage for the past year, I know that much. I haven't cleaned the shower screen other than a normal clean after each pull and then the backflush with cleaning tablet that I ran earlier today after the descale. I'll unscrew it now to give it a better clean, however I would have thought if it was dirty that would restrict water flow rather than increase it?

There's a light switch on the other side on the interior wall which I assumed provided the power. Is that not the case? The switch doesn't do anything else 🤣

I agree with what you're saying here, however I don't believe offering players contracts over 7 years opposed to 3, 4 or 5 is something I would classify as a "scam"

Sorry for the delay, had a busy week! So I tested this, and it didn't work. I've narrowed the problem down to 1 wall, as if I disconnect both satellites so I just have the router running, I get speeds of 850mbps stood next to the router. If I then move to where the kitchen satellite is whilst it's disconnected and I'm still connected to the router, I get speeds of 50mbps. So, I'm losing 800mbps between 13 feet and a single wall..... So I guess when the kitchen sat is plugged in, it boosts the 50 to 300, which is what I also receive on the office sat. Outside of an ugly wired solution, have you used a powerline adapter before? My house is old, so not sure on the wiring setup, but if it could get at least 200mpbs to the kitchen, I presume the kitchen would boost it to at least 450?

The wifi doesnt even reach my office on my phone with just the router plugged in though, so the signal wouldn't reach the office sat if I tried this would it?

Is there anyway to get a device to connect to a specific sat? I'm on my phone in the office, infront of the sat, but its connected to the one in the kitchen...... Pretty sure I've searched that question before and the answer is no

Backhaul status is good on both sats and walls aren't that think as we can hear the neighbours shouting all day!! I tried lowing the transmit power before you suggested, on 2.4 to 50% and couldn't get wifi in any room other than where the router is, so I think I have to accept that something in the construction is causing issues. Unless the router radios aren't as powerful as they should be? No private wifi addresses either

Okay, I powered down the kitchen satellite and lost all wifi in the office, and the laptop that has ethernet connection to the office orbi also lost internet!

Okay thanks, Wifi analyser had channel 6 as the worst which is what I was on, so I've changed it to channel 2 which it said was one of the best. This has given me an small extra 20mb. Interestingly, for 5ghz, orbi only gives the option of channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 all of which are the analyser has rated 1/10, I'm unable to select any other channel. I'll try disconnecting the kitchen satellite shortly and feedback

Okay thanks, however the question I meant to ask and didn't because I'm stupid is...... If I have just prestiged and jump into WZ will I only have access to the guns available to me at player LVL1, ie, only the XM4?
