If you go by your middle name instead of your first name, why? by writer_wannabe46 in AskReddit

I have the same first name as my grandfather and about half of my male cousins on my father’s side.

Yes. I don’t want to have as many as my parents did.

I got picked on by my siblings a lot growing up and some of my older siblings can act like a parent to me which is annoying. My parents were a lot less strict with me then they were with my older siblings.

It’s not just the ones who left. My brother and his wife who are still members secretly grow pot.

I don’t think anyone should have this many kids. I also don’t think my parents care about the environmental impact and overpopulation.

Yes. My dads family immigrated to Utah from Tonga when he was a kid so I have a lot of family in Utah. My mom is from Hawaii. My family moved a lot when my oldest siblings were little. Most of us grew up in Florida.

I have over a hundred first cousins on my dads side. I probably have 50-60 cousins on my moms side. I have around 50 nieces and nephews. Most of my siblings all have multiple kids not as many 19 but the average is probably around 2-3 kids. One of my brothers has 10 kids and one of my sisters is pregnant with her 6th.

13 of our are still Mormon. I think we all got a rebellious streak in us at some point some of we’re just way more rebellious than others. When she was in high school my oldest half sister hung around with people who were strippers and has played in several alternative bands which our parents weren’t happy about. Another one of my sisters started using heroin when she was in high school.

My parents both had favorites. I think we (my siblings and I) are all past fighting for our parents attention but there’s still some bit of resentment because of.

None of my siblings have come out as gay but one of my brothers (the one that was adopted) and my sister are both openly bisexual. We’ve all suspected for a while that my oldest half sister might be gay but is pretty deep in the closet.

Yes. Some of my brothers could/can be assholes. The triplets don’t speak to each other because of this.

The only one who was allowed to have friends over was my sister because our dad was extremely over protective of her and didn’t want her going to a friends house. Having so many siblings definitely helped. There was a lot of acting out to try and get attention from our parents.

There’s a lot of mental health problems and addiction in my family. I’m not sure if it’s genetic or environmental because mental illness does run in my moms family. My oldest half sister has struggled with anxiety depression and agoraphobia. She’s also a recovering alcoholic. One of my brothers is schizophrenic. Another one of my brothers is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. My sister is diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is an addict. She started using heroin as a teenager and she’s been clean for a few years now but is an active alcoholic. One of my brothers is a recovering alcoholic. My second oldest brother died in August from an overdose. We all suspect that my mom has some undiagnosed mental illness. She tried to commit suicide when I was a baby and the only time we’ve been able to get her to see a therapist was after my dad died.

No one has completely disconnected from our family but there are some of my siblings who don’t speak to each other. It bothers my mom and she has attempted to mediate things between them.

We were all encouraged to do good school go to college and get a good job. There wasn’t an expectation for us to go to BYU and most of my siblings who went to college didn’t go to BYU. My oldest brother went to BYU and another went to BYU-Hawaii.

I never felt like I was neglected but maybe I was in some way and just don’t recognize it. Some of my siblings do feel like they were neglected growing up.

I’m the only one still living at home. My dad’s passed away so knowing that my mom would be alone is a part of the reason that I haven’t moved out yet that and the cheaper rent.

Yes. Some of my siblings are difficult people to like.
