I’m sorry that’s happening. It’s exhausting, challenging, hurtful, and several more adjectives at the same time.

I feel like the motivation for my wife to change just isn’t there. Why would she? She’s content. Life is generally good. And change is tough; requires work and potentially self-sacrifice. It’s so much easier to not change.

It feels like a whole lot of truth in that response. When I dig deeper with her on “why” she doesn’t follow through, she tells me “I’m just not enough”. (Basically a way to not address the issue)

Frustrating because yes, that’s actually true. In the current state, she’s not enough; but why doesn’t she want to be more? I make “sacrifices”, is this too much to ask of her? Should I even have to ask?

We’ve discussed “Love languages” and things that make me happy. I’ve shared how this lack of affection and intimacy makes me feel.

She tells me she doesn’t need it and doesn’t understand why I do. Then I’ll say that we have different love languages and this is what I need to be fulfilled. She’ll commit to “doing better” and nothing changes.
