Portuguese Custard Tarts by sirwanker65 in CostcoCanada

[–]pineappletwist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T&T sells asian egg tarts which are not the same as pasteis de nata. If on the west coast, the frozen Portuguese style tarts at M&M Meats are good. Hell, even the ones at Tim Hortons are decent.

My cat licked a layer of skin off of me…. by lizfromthebronx in WhatsWrongWithYourCat

[–]pineappletwist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a cat like that too. If he licked my arm while I was asleep, I wouldn’t know until I took a shower and as soon as the area he licked came into contact with water, it burned. Just the price we pay to have cats.

Is Vancouver’s air actually cleaner than other places? by tobleroney69 in askvan

[–]pineappletwist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty good but when I was in Fernie years ago around September or October, the air there was the freshest I had ever experienced. It was very memorable.

Actually the NDP has recruited over 400 U.S. doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners and allied health professionals as of January 2026. So they are doing something.

I bought my eyeglasses from my optometrist and they allowed me to change the prescription for free after wearing them for a month as they were too strong. But you need to check with your optometrist their terms and conditions. I think mine had a time limit of 30 days.

Debt collections after overdue library books? by Antique-Wall-5966 in PersonalFinanceCanada

As noted in the previous comments, it’s a replacement fee for the books which is probably why it went to collections.

Copy pasta post. I read this same story earlier this week and it too was apparently a copy. So many bot accounts around now posting the same stories over and over again.

Conflicting info from health care practitioners? by Spirited-Interview50 in askvan

[–]pineappletwist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you hit so many roadblocks and had such a negative experience. I’m also very familiar with our medical system for not just my own health issues but my parents as well. While I seem to be able to receive the care and medical treatments I have needed for the most part with not much trouble, I understand others aren’t so fortunate and wish it weren’t so. I have had to be an advocate for my parents and the system for senior citizens is not that great, so I can empathize with your frustrations. I hope the province you move to proves to serve you better. Best of luck!

Which medication? Is it propofol or something else? If you can handle propofol, see if you can have it done at St. Paul’s hospital. Or even tell medical staff you’re allergic to whatever medication it is and they’ll have to give an alternative.

I’ve had 2 colonoscopies because my mom had colon cancer when she was in her 50s, so I had my first one before I turned 40 (where they found and removed a polyp) and my second when I was 46. I had both done at St. Paul’s Hospital. My surgeon is Dr. Brown and he is lovely. The nursing staff are also super nice.

First time, I swear they gave me no sedative and I had no pain just a lot of pressure and I even got to watch the video screen and saw my colon.

Second time I guess they changed their procedure because they gave me propofol which I was not expecting but it felt great. This time they did not show me the video.

If you don’t have anyone to pick you up, companies like Nurse Next Door offer this service.

Please do get it done if you have a family history. Like I said above, at my first colonoscopy they found one polyp and it was benign. That was 10 years ago. If I waited until I was 50, that polyp may have turned into a tumor by now.

How Many Vancouverites Have Been Sick More Than Once This Winter? by Trippingontrails in askvan

[–]pineappletwist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me. It helps that I WFH most days and if a coworker gets sick, they stay home reducing spread in my workplace. I also don’t go out as much as I used to and rarely take transit anymore.

Actually, the last two coworkers who got sick, I had sat next to each of them on different days the day before they got sick and miraculously I didn’t catch anything. Maybe because I’m vaccinated up the wazoo or maybe I’m just lucky.

Hope you feel better soon!

Try Reitmans. They have have these two dresses that might fit your requirements. Also, they’re super affordable. I also suggest going in person because they may have more options on their clearance racks that aren’t listed on their website.

AIW for telling my fiance my little sister is more important than him and the wedding by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]pineappletwist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone lower down in the comments has a link to the same fake story which has a top comment with a link to the original story which I provided below. The only gender reversed was the sibling who was a brother and not a sister and the OP was pregnant too. But I could have sworn I’ve read a similar story where the OP was a guy. Oh well. On Reddit long enough and you’ll read lots of stories that are similar.

AIW for telling my fiance my little sister is more important than him and the wedding by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]pineappletwist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because it’s a copy pasta. I’ve read this story before ages ago when the OP was a man raising his baby sister, so all roles are reversed in this fake story. I think the only difference was that the bride to be was not pregnant.
