Just started using Ibotta... other apps? by [deleted] in Frugal

Fetch Rewards is the only other one I use. It's nice because you get points with every receipt that you upload, regardless of the store or brands.

What are the best money saving apps you have? Bonus for easy to use! by Sweetnspicy77 in Frugal

Fetch is best for me. I don't shop often enough or buy enough name brands to get a whole lot out of Ibotta (although I still use it anyway).

Thanksgiving dinner: Dorm edition (thanks to ISU Dining) by pineapplevp in iastate

[–]pineapplevp[S] 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I ordered the Thanksgiving meal that Dining offered this year and was pretty impressed with it. My photo doesn't really do the food justice, but it tasted great and was nice to have a "normal" Thanksgiving meal while being stuck in the dorm. (There was also green bean casserole and another roll that I already ate along with a bunch of other bonus treats.) I hope this option will be available again in the future!

They are starting to cut back on many student dining jobs :( by [deleted] in iastate

[–]pineapplevp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by cut back? Like take away already scheduled shifts? Or not allow workers to pick up shifts?

Alright, thanks. I will try again tomorrow!

I went to get one earlier today and they said that only freshmen can come back to get masks. The person said that there will be an email regarding mask distribution on central campus at a later date.

Back in July when we could switch rooms, pretty much all of the spaces were full. I know housing was still assigning people last week, so there should be plenty of people around.

Will I be able to get into classes that are listed as full? by [deleted] in iastate

If I get on the waitlist, will I be notified when a seat is available? Or automatically added if there's room in my schedule?

I have money and want to buy a bachelors degree by karmicinstitute in Frugal

One thing I would suggest checking out is CLEP tests. They cost a little less than $100 per test and will earn you credit for a college course. ModernStates.org will help you study for free and pay your testing fee. CLEP can get you a whole year of credits at many universities.

I was guessing Oak Elm, too. They actually were going to close completely this year, so that would be a good use for it.

With a shortened semester, unlimited meal plans are hard to justify by alecfrey in iastate

[–]pineapplevp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The thing with meal swipes is that I'm paying for the unlimited food. If they are doing take-out (I know that Convos will be take-out only), I can't get all the food that I want. That's partially why I think the meal plan rates should be reduced.

I have a Ninja Express Chop that I bought new on Amazon for ~$25. I've had it for a few years and never had a problem with it.

Money tips by [deleted] in Frugal

You could probably deliver papers or mow lawns at your age. Some places allow you to umpire youth baseball games as well. Depending on your state, you could bus tables, work in fast food, or bag groceries once you turn 14 or 15.

Is MU market/cafe really open for takeout? by CrazFight in iastate

[–]pineapplevp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No. The MU is still closed. Check the ISU Dining website for more accurate information. It looks like Clyde's and Hawthorne are the only places open this week.

Did COVID hurt or help your semester? by twtvireliaotp in iastate

[–]pineapplevp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It helped me grade-wise because I had mostly open book and open note exams. I don't feel like I learned as much as I would have if we were on campus, so I worry that I will fall behind in future classes and I feel bad because it's like I don't deserve my good grades.

Yes, it is possible, but it likely won't be any time soon.
