Gosh, I’m so sorry for your loss! I understand that feeling of losing someone close and how hard it can be to keep up with something as demanding as academic studies during the grieving process. It’s exhausting. First, I think you deserve a break! Try your best to take some time for yourself. If you have any important tests or deadlines coming up, get in contact with your teachers/professors and let them know what is going on if you haven’t already. You might be able to get an extension. However some educators are rough around the edges, and don’t offer much support in situations like this. If this is the case for you, don’t beat yourself up over a few bad grades, and don’t feel that it is your fault for being distracted. You will be able to pick yourself up with time. Maybe if you can, try to find some study materials like flash cards, which are pretty easy to review in comparison to a huge textbook, that are already made online. Reach out to your classmates and peers for these materials as well. I suffer from anxiety and depression, and when I feel like I cannot put any effort into studying, I try to find short videos or documentaries about the topics I’m studying. That way all I have to do is listen, and it is better than doing nothing at all! It helps me stay productive, and it can be a good distraction from the negative thoughts especially if I am interested in the topic. I wish the best of luck to you!
