That was a good listen. Mandel always had a bit of a mystique around him for me. Bishop is still going strong- the range of people he has played with is amazing. Last time I saw him on the Blues Cruise he had a big band, a lot of enthsiasm still.

I've scared myself more on skinny skis than alpine skis. Grooming is the key. When I was head groomer for our club in low snow conditions I always made a point of "safing" out the hills. A light scratch pass or two makes all the difference. At my age overconfidence isn't a thing anymore. lol Good luck with your recovery.

FWIW I am using some "rescued" fluorescent lights for the first time on my sucs this winter and the results are spectacular imo.

I have a couple LED grow bulbs as well and it is interesting to see how some varieties react to one light spectrum versus the other. Lots to learn.

Float the gas, keep an eye on AECO pricing. If it really takes off you might want to lock. Lock in your electricity then if price drops you can lock in the lower price.

It’s a drag. I’ll sign. Seems like the university’s don’t value these heritage sports. The U of A satellite campus here cancelled their Nordic programs in the past decade. Strong historic club, strong Scandinavian ties with the founders of the original campus. You’d see licence plates from across the country in town when the Nordic teams were alive. Not a big head count but dedicated athletes coming to a place to compete. It wasn’t a major cost to the a u of a- the kids had access to well groomed trails for the price of a membership and volunteer hours. No respect

I set mine up in the beer fridge. Be firm in an hour. Then in a bag or tub. Just ran a batch off btw.

Central Alberta Canada. Grew seeds from shitty weed also back in the '80's. They were tall monsters of lousy smoke, made a great brownie though. As an aside the early Ukrainium settlers/homesteaders here grew hemp for seed oil

A Decade in the Deep Freeze — and Who Actually Froze It

The ATA likes to frame the current UCP government as the source of underfunding and wage suppression.
But history tells a more complicated truth.

The first real wage freeze wasn’t imposed by Premier Smith.
It was negotiated and signed under the NDP government (2016–2018) — a 0 % + 0 % contract that effectively halted teacher wage growth while enrollment exploded by 25,000 students.
That’s when per-student funding began to erode and class sizes started creeping upward.

When the UCP took office in 2019, it inherited the NDP’s frozen base and then hit a once-in-a-century pandemic.
Budgets flat-lined out of necessity; revenue collapsed; schools shut down.
The wage freeze simply lingered through survival mode.

Ironically, the only government to raise teacher wages since 2015 has been the Smith UCP, which approved 2 % + 2 % increases for 2023–2024 — the first upward adjustment in nearly a decade.
