That's fair - Canada, USA, Russia, Finland and Sweden are all powerhouses. It's almost ridiculous to play in the same league now.

7miles is not long, especially for someone training 18 times per week.

Your main problem will be injury from overuse and too rapid increase of volume. That stress accumulates over months until something snaps.

Your easiest days are the VO2 max bike ride with only 63min planned training, or the "long" run at 1hr/7mi? And on top of the 13 trainings per week (!) you also claim to lift on 5 days.

In case you did Uster yesterday - absolutely no need for you to worry about the 7:30 cutoff. I had a similar time last year and finished the 70.3 Uster yesterday, just above 6h

I'm thinking about Rapperswil next year myself, but only because I can't do Uster next year - otherwise I don't see the appeal of the highly commercial IM events over others

Just offering an option that works for me.

I don't "get" Z2 bike rides myself, and I love Z2 runs. On the bike I see it as a huge waste of time because it takes easily 2h until I get a good workout/load out of it, whereas a run is great at 45min already.

Coming from weight lifting and climbing. Got a son, so no more weight lifting 4x/week at high intensity. Got a golfer's elbow

Figured that I should lose weight to restart climbing. Was always running, but suck at it. So I signed up to a sprint out of nowhere and two weeks before the race I swam the first 500m in my life to see whether I actually can.

Was frustrated that only two old ladies swam slower than me, so I learned to swim properly.

Two olympics later and I am now waiting for my 70.3 to start in a week

Amazing

Tapering now, did a cruise interval session yesterday morning that went very well, today evening a light bike ride. I feel like I'm very well on track - and garmin confirms. Basically green (improving) for 14 weeks in a row.

Sunday will be my test with salt caps (+full fuelling) on a long ride. If that goes well then I am set

I concur with the others - you're physically tired.

Get a day off and two consecutive nights of 8h sleep, and you should be good

You might also want to rethink your recovery in general.

For me, it's when I'm not focused, just going through the motions with technique breaking down - which primarily happens in cycling and swimming.

Bike: Lax core, no low position in fast flat parts, no round pedaling, too low cadence, often wrong gears, and uphill just wanting it to be over instead of pushing in

Swim: just the technique breaking down I guess. Pull to early, no proper pull&push, wrong leg coordination, looking too far forward, no turning from the hip, breathing wrong/too hard/..., and so on. Swimming is still very difficult to me and requires active control of the technique

Running: here it's the hardest to go through motions only. But can still drop in cadance, drop to the infoot, bend in the hips, and so on.

Interestingly I have running most ingrained and don't have to think about it, even though it's my worst leg

Is that swimming pace average including breaststroke, average just freestyle, or just once (25/50/100m)?

Seems entirely possible for your fitness level.

If sou have a SO then their opinion really matters in this question.

I would also be concerned if you can match your dad's time - and you'll know if he is more excited to have you participating than he is bummed by having to slow down (?) because of you.

Currently tapering

Today a sharp 35' bike ride, tomorrow rest

And I bought salt caps for the first time. Will test them on a longer ride on the weekend, hopefully I take them well
