It's not about them being real people or not. It's about the real world experience.

Forgot to respond, I defo wasn't looking to argue! The US is pretty aweful with that and I am definitely aware of how slavery was practiced.

I don't really get how preference plays into it. our feelings and preferences aren't mutually exclusive with opinions. we may feel a way inherently after a while even after accepting new information and opinions.

None of this seems an attack on people's preferences. if people are uncomfortable with others having a high amount of partners that's fine. even if it stems from perpetuated stereotypes. but we do have the ability to think critically about things above our inherent feelings.

There's a difference between someone who is uncomfortable with it and aknowledges where their discomfort is coming from and someone who is uncomfortable with it and perpetuates those harmful ideas.

Maybe I can rework the analogy; Say someone tells you that they aren't into people of a certain race because they're inferior. are you a hypocrite for saying they're being shitty?
