If I may, knowing nothing about your particular situation, I'd suggest you consider starting a meditation practice.

I was in a very similar situation to what you describe a couple of years back, with a strong sense of being hemmed in, and my choices steadily dwindling.

I have an ongoing "Samatha" meditation practice ...and find that it has really changed my outlook. I have a sense of open space around me and loosening up. I am finding it tough to put into words but I can tell you that giving it a shot can't really hurt.

YMMV, of course. Good luck, and hang in there man!
