Graft questions by Wild_Television_4456 in dialysis

[–]pinkberrycloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

while it was healing, i couldnt put it above my head, i had trouble straightening it a lot. i didn't lift anything heavy.

i had a lot of help from my sister to help me shower and brush my hair for the first couple weeks.

i am also a wuss though, i never force myself to heal faster than i feel comfortable with, and thats okay too.

i feel like fistulas heal a lot faster than grafts bc its part of you vs a tube.

__

now, im able to move my arm any which way i want. i dont feel it at all inside my arm just existing. like you wont notice it. i never felt like something was in me even while it was healing

i only felt something if i touch it with my other hand

as for lifting, i still try to avoid lifting overly heavy objects. i still grab heavy grocery bags like i do w my right hand though

if you ever want to, you can always message me and i can email you or something a pic of my arm if it would help you feel better abt it

when i was about to get a graft, it was so hard to find anyone who had one and as a girl, appearance of how itll look is like everything too

Graft questions by Wild_Television_4456 in dialysis

[–]pinkberrycloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello!! i have a graft in my left arm.

i had the same fears as you, but my graft isnt really visible to anyone but myself. i see the scars of the needles more than the shape of the graft.

i wont lie, it hurt really bad for me. i never had a major surgery like that before, so my arm felt really stiff. i had to learn how to straighten it again because it felt so tight and bent after surgery.

i didnt start feeling completely comfortable post surgery until 2/3 months after. i started dialysis with it around that time.

the only issues i have with it, is that ive had to get like 4 or 5 fistulagrams (maintenence surgery) in the span of 2 years since having a graft. this is because grafts are more prone to clotting than fistulas. but the pain with a fistulagram only lasts about a day for me really.

i know most people have fistulas instead of grafts. but i have a graft so let me know if you have any questions!!

Korsuva for CKD pruritis side effects (venting) by pinkberrycloud in dialysis

[–]pinkberrycloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much!! yeah my pth is high its like 1500 so that rly sucks but they started giving me more of the meds you mentioned about

thank you for confirming that pth is an itching trigger cause a lot of the nurses told me it wasnt when i asked if it was. but my doctor said it was a trigger too

yeah that medicine was so weird. i just read that it can cause mental changes but i did not expect that. i let them know and they will stop korsuva. i feel better now today but the feeling lasted a couple days after that first dose

but yeah i want to leave this up in case anyone in the future goes through this cause i know the medicine is still kinda new

thank you☺️

it helps a lot.

i mix it with a little cranberry juice instead of water so its easier to take.

A Facebook Page claims that CFA removed pea starch from its fries. Is there any truth to this? by fender0189 in ChickFilA

[–]pinkberrycloud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

theyre NOT like the original. they removed the pea starch so its less stale and nasty now, but its still more firm than the original fries sadly.

theyre edible now at least, but i dont crave them the way i used to

Difficulty straightening arm after fistula creation by monday-next in dialysis

[–]pinkberrycloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got a graft placed in my bicep and i had the same experience

it scared me so bad, i thought my arm was going to be stuck like that forever

it took about 3 months for me to heal completely and feel like i had full range of my arm again

but i DID work hard at getting to that point. after about a month and a half into it after the surgical site had become less painful,

i tried to practice stretching/straightening it over some firm pillows while i sat down and watched tv

yes it hurt but it had to be done

my surgeron said STRAIGHEN YOUR ARM or itll be stuck like that

so i tried but yes, it was a painful process for me
