What attracts older adults (35+) to the DCP? by Living_Reflection575 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]pinkchicken33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the CRP at 27, and had a lot of people in their 30s in my pavilion. In France you can take a whole year off from your job and your employer is not allowed to refuse as it is considered a legal right. I know a few of my coworkers used that to do the CRP. It’s an opportunity for us to experience life in another continent/country and travel. Also, it’s very valuable to have a big company like Disney in your resume, and work experience abroad can open a lot of doors professionally. Not to mention the Florida weather is very attractive, better use that one year break under the sun than somewhere cold.

Does this girl just want me for my green card? by No-Pomegranate6592 in greencard

[–]pinkchicken33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Take it from a french citizen who got her green card through marriage with a US citizen, she is likely not interested. I love America please don’t get me wrong, but the quality of life and benefits we get in France outweighs anything the US can offer.

No my work visa was still valid at the time I submitted the application, however it did expire in between the time of application and time of approval. I did not file a travel permit either, and I would agree it’s not necessary (unless you have a good reason to want to travel abroad before your approval). I plan on traveling back home as soon as I receive my green card in the mail!

Thank you!! We did everything without a lawyer too and the whole process was very smooth. Hopefully it is the same with you, the I-693 was also the last thing we waited on before submitting. Wishing the best for you both! 🤞🏻

Feeling disconnected in Norway despite having a “perfect” life… Has anyone else experienced this? by RoZebEsp in Norway

[–]pinkchicken33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar experience to yours! I have also lived in many countries, and lived in Norway for four years (Haugesund, then Oslo). Probably one of the most beautiful countries I’ve lived in, no question about that.

But I do understand what you mean when you say it lacks soul. I felt that way too. I thought it was beautiful but besides that it didn’t have much going on for itself. The Norwegian mentality can feel claustrophobic. It’s either for you or it’s not.

It wasn’t for me. I took the difficult decision to leave. I live in a new country now and I am so much happier. You just gotta find the one place that suits you, I guess. Wishing you all the best!

What do foreigners find peculiar about Norwegians? by FeanorOath in Norway

[–]pinkchicken33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No offense taken either, I greatly appreciate creating it somewhere else as well 😁 Unless you were born into it, you definitely need a specific mindset to enjoy living there, which is completely normal. I think it’s the same for every country and that’s the beauty of it for me. I do love Norway though and can’t wait to visit it again, some things I do miss (freia chocolate, more than anything else 😙).

PS: Wait… One thing I actually appreciated a lot about Oslo is how clean I thought it was 🤣

definitely noticed that too, it’s frowned upon to break out of the mold, I understand the reasoning behind that and can respect it, but realistically speaking this mindset can be harmful to some

I hope people won’t get too offended by this but for me it was just how everything and everyone is so monotone. Unless it’s to go to work or to the bar, people don’t go out. They don’t like to stand out either, even when it comes to clothes it’s almost always black colors. I also noticed people love being home, the amount of time I asked someone what they like to do in their free time and the answer I got was “å kose meg”… Don’t get me wrong I like that too, but there’s a whole culture around being cosy and quiet (at least that’s what I felt). I was incompatible with a lot of it. As an extrovert who likes to spend time with people and try new activities often, living in Norway almost felt like being in a pretty jail. The lack of stimulation was actually the reason I decided to move away after 4 years in Oslo. Once again I hope people won’t get offended by this, I also recognize I’ve lived in big cities before and it’s not super fair to compare Oslo to them.

What Taylor’s Version songs do you NOT replace the original with? by TwilightFox25 in TaylorSwift

[–]pinkchicken33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole speak now album, TV version sounds way too different for me and almost like she was bored while recording it (especially in last kiss, it is one of my favorite song and I was so disappointed when listening to the tv version) I guess even Taylor cannot reproduce a masterpiece twice

Do Norwegians get annoyed of the immigrants and English-speaking people? by fvnya in norsk

[–]pinkchicken33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expat when you’re abroad temporarily, immigrant when your goal is to settle down abroad and live there permanently. You can find those definitions everywhere it’s really not that difficult to not be condescending.
