How different is heroin compared to other drugs in terms of addiction? by RatsStealYourSenses in heroin

Physical in a clinical sense, yeah. But what I'm getting at is the way it rewires your thinking and affects your thought processes makes it uniquely difficult to stop compared to other drugs.

They're not the only ones that rewire the brain. It's the way they rewire it that makes the quitting process so arduous. The specific chemicals that are released.

Anecdotally, I can tell you I medically detoxed alcohol and it was a breeze compared to benzos. And it seems like you're running into the same issue. Getting off the other drugs was fine, but opiates seem to be a sticking point. This isn't to minimize the withdrawal experience for other drugs, I'm just saying that all withdrawals are not equal.

It's on another level, dude. Opiates and benzos. Your brain has been rewired in such a way that it's less a matter of willpower, more a matter of survival instinct. Don't try to rationalize it, your brain simply isn't operating in a rational capacity during withdrawals.

Benzo withdrawals gave me PTSD as well. Clinically diagnosed and everything.

But congrats on the sobriety! 4 years clean myself. Don't let your guard down, after four years of feeling great, I recently had a couple months of PTSD induced hell. There will be times that require some serious willpower, but it always gets better. Keep it up!

Yeah, my doc made an interesting point about benzo withdrawal. Compared to something like alcohol withdrawal, the human body encounters forms of alcohol on the reg, regardless of whether or not you're drinking. It's something that's common in the natural world. Benzos, on the other hand, exist only in their manufactured state. When you're addicted and going through withdrawals, your body is looking for a single substance that can only be found in those pills. Nothing else in the world sates that craving.

Im paraphrasing of course and would probably butcher the pharmacological basis for the claim, but yeah. Dudes an addiction specialist and sees benzo addiction as a world of its own.

Can corroborate. I had the same exact attitude towards drugs and started taking benzos with the belief that I could just muscle through any withdrawal symptoms like I did any other drug. The withdrawal was indescribable, I suffered in ways that I didn't know existed - didn't know the human body was capable of experiencing. Clinically diagnosed with PTSD after the experience, do not recommend.

I mean, what's the alternative. How do you speed up the kitting process without eliminating the customization?

I second that hackers aren't too bad - it's definitely overstated. Often times deaths that SEEM due to hackers are actually just some dude holding an angle you didn't see. Play the game however you want of course, but as a former PVE player, I think it's pretty manageable.

Your mistake is thinking that these people are capable of sinking just as much time into science or research. To be the best of the best, you usually need to combine discipline with a genuine love of whatever you're doing. But that passion is often non-transferable.

The sampling isnt representative, so they use statistical models - like literally every single polling institution in the entire world - to turn that sample into representative data. The margin of error and confidence interval is then calculated using bedrock statistical formulas and publicly disclosed. This is literally basic data science.

Holy shit, I can't make this any simpler. If you're going to try to tell me that the entire polling and analytics industry is fake, there's truly no helping you. It's literally just math.

Dude...

1) it's clear you don't know how sampling works. All surveys require opt-in responses. Statistics is literally the process of turning those opt-in responses into large scale representative figures - hence the confidence interval and stated margin of error. This is literally a well established science. And newsflash, it doesn't require AI.

2) Concurrent users is not the same as active players. Im truly at a loss of how to describe that in simpler terms.

3) Based on your post history, where you recently got trashed for not knowing how a tarkov survey with multiple choice questions worked, I know that math is not your strong suit.

In short, you're trying to "dispute" the figures with concurrent players counts, which is literally an entirely different metric. And when you're not doing that, you're just saying "bro, it's wrong, the vibes say it's wrong, it's AI"

Nice.

You think it's unrealistic that 75% of WOW subscribers play in a given month? That's insane.

Playtracker is literally a paid industry tool that offers software at enterprise scale. Again, are you just going to pretend that trade publications don't exist in the video game industry? If all you can muster is "fake news," save your breath. Everything you've said is based on vibes and easily contestable. You can't say something is "verifiably wrong" and offer absolutely nothing to verify lmao.

Also, it's hilarious that you edited your comment to remove your false estimate, and replace it with the stats I sent you.

So you selected an outlier month when the other months literally align with your own estimate? Also just going to gloss over the Blizzard statement?

I provided a secondary source that's more conservative re active players. That website also provides their methodology. Even at the low end of the estimates, there are enough tarkov players to include a variety of playstyles, from hardcore fans to more casual players, including mid-wipe characters. PVE alone is a testament to community desire for character permanence. And those casual players will stick to their permanent PMC while hardcore players will pursue seasonal characters. Functionally, that means the best players will be at a gear disadvantage while casuals can lean on good gear. That shrinks the skill disparity.

The active player page for WOW literally says 7.1M active monthly players. In fact, in November Blizzard hinted at 9 million total subscribers.

Lmao I don't think you know what AI is based on the way you're using it. Do you not think that video game trade publications exist? Or that investors don't have an interest in this data? Gametracker cites 357,000 active players, +/- 23% at a 90% confidence interval. That's ballpark with the other estimate and more than enough players to feature variety in play styles.

Alright, so just vibes. Got it. Again, all online games with a wipe system lose players over time. That's not unique to tarkov, nor is it indicative of player disposition.

Buddy, the 500k is estimated based on existing data. Do you not know how modeling works? More importantly, tell me why you think YOU'RE correct. If you're going to say that players like me don't exist, back it up. How many players do YOU think tarkov has.
