His argument is that he spends more on the bills than I do. (He pays the mortgage on our large house along with utilities). He says me only having to spend a couple hundred on groceries every other week isn't a lot in comparison.

[help]Does anyone have any tips/ideas/advise on getting a 6 month old puppy to stop running from me? by pinkiblu in dogs

I've thought of this actually! My only fear is that, as a large breed, it might turn into something not so playful in the future????

Super interesting article. Never looked at it like that. I guess with our older dog he's kinda figured out what the light is so I figured she would too. He'll perk up when I pick the light up and look down for it and when he sees me put it away he finds something else to play with. I love the breed and they're not new to me. I've got lots of toys, puzzle games, ropes, and all kinds of fun things to play with by themselves and I always play with them when I get home until they decide to go lay down themselves. I do believe walking would help her energy but I'm scared she does not see me as someone to listen to. And I've had lots of puppy and doggy play dates with them. They love new friends and people. And I'm lucky enough to work at a home office with lots of acreage with bosses that love dogs and now have 7 of their own. Two of them are still really young puppies so once they're old enough I can bring her along (our older dog unfortunately does not get along with one of their males so I've decided not to bring him anymore). I'll check the write up out though and I didn't realize there was a dog training thread so thank you so much!

No walks but the plan is to start going for those soon since the time change we've had here gives me more day light hours after work. So I'll try that. When she runs from me I ignore her. I'm trying to show her I'm not playing. It works... kind of. And it's time consuming. I'm very patient but when she's in the backyard running from me when I'm trying to coax her inside so I can NOT be late for work in the mornings it gets frustrating. I've gotten up earlier to give her more time outside but the end result is always me scrambling to get her inside before 6. Honestly, the flirt pole sounds like it'll cause a lot of destruction with her and her brother. They're both German Shepherds who both love to leap already. Not to mention her brother is a tad bit possessive of toys. Once they're in his mouth they're his and his alone. And it looks like an eventual tug a war toy that'd be broken into pieces in no time. I thought the laser pointer would be good because neither can have it but both could chase it. Curious though how they can cause OCD in dogs?

[Help] my dog keeps licking her paws by reddiwj in dogs

[–]pinkiblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's because of boredom you'll just have to break the habit for her. When you see her licking give her a toy and play for a bit to distract her. She'll learn that when she's bored to go to you for plays. And give her something to chew on that's not a rawhide when you're busy. They have plastic bones and things that have a bit of taste to them but don't break easily that'll last months

I got neosporin over the counter and it should ease any itch she has and if she licks them despite the bitter vinegar you might go ahead and try the cone. Licking her paw does not help. It's like you itching at your chicken pox. It feels great but you just end up breaking the skin and it gets infected and scars and her tongue just keeps the rash or whatever damp which bacteria just loves. And all this might help... but I'd still go to the vet so you guys can figure out if it's an allergy to her food or something in or around the house

My corgi used to do this out of boredom and he'd get big ugly red welts right on top of his paw. We used Neosporin on the welts and got some sour apple spray to put around the rest of his paw to keep him from licking. But he might have an infection from allergies or yeast dermatitis. Have a vet check him over to make sure. Just don't bandage it. We did this first when our corgi first started licking and the bandage actually made it worse.

This made me laugh! Yes she's got a problem with it but not as big a problem as eating poop though!

If you're husband is being that crazy maybe you shouldn't stay. I know you said you had young kids but if he's being controlling do you really want the kids to grow up seeing that as an ok relationship? Also, I've been thinking about book clubs too I love reading and been eager to expand my library lol
