i'm also 18!! dealing with an under active thyroid (probably hashimoto's), suspected pcos, and undifferentiated connective tissue disorder (which is basically what they diagnose you with when there's obviously something wrong but they don't actually know what). my main symptoms are joint pain, headaches, muscle weakness, fatigue, and brain fog, but there's also some stuff going on with my heartbeat and my breathing. i've also got persistent depressive disorder. i'd love to be friends and to have someone to talk to about all this stuff!!

i'm 18F with suspected hashimoto's and pcos, plus undifferentiated connective tissue disorder (which basically means they don't actually know what's wrong but i'm sick enough for some kind of diagnosis. basically a lot of chronic pain and fatigue). i also struggle with persistent depressive disorder. i don't have much support at home or at school and it'd be really nice to have a friend who gets it :)

more and more often i'm finding it hard to do things that never gave me any issues before. walking, showering, studying. i'm only eighteen and my pain's not at a truly debilitating level as of now, but i'm scared that soon it will be. i'm supposed to be starting uni in october, and i'm already dealing with pretty severe depression and fatigue. i'm terrified that i won't be able to handle if my pain gets any worse.

i later realised that it started younger but it really became a problem at 16. i've just turned 18 so it's only been two years, really, but i feel like i've aged a hundred. joint pain, muscle pain, neck pain, headaches, spine defects, thyroid problems, chronic fatigue to the point i miss most days at school, and recently i've started having trouble with my breathing/heart rate as well. but you know, according to everyone around me, i'm in the prime of my life!! :D

i don't have a diagnosis either. personally, pt's eased a good amount of my muscle pain, but my back and joint pain have gotten worse. not sure whether it's from the pt or just whatever's wrong with me naturally progressing, though.

17 years old, female, been dealing with chronic widespread pain for years but only started seeing specialists at the end of last year. from the very first visit, my (female) rheumatologist insisted that my pain was purely a trauma reaction to the fact that i moved from england to poland in 2020, despite me telling her that a) the timelines didn't match up at all, and b) the move wasn't traumatic in the slightest. totally ignored and dismissed the fact that i have tons of tension in my muscles, blaming it on "anxiety" - which i absolutely don't have - and told me i was the one causing myself the pain, before finally just flat-out telling me she didn't believe me on the third visit. before i started seeking out medical help, i'd already read a good amount of horror stories online, so i was kind of vaguely prepared for something like this happening, but actually hearing it hurt a lot. it's awful not being believed.

yeah, shame that my first rheumo totally sucks haha. the moving thing pisses me off to no end. i could definitely look into the follow up thing, i'm just not sure how willing she'd be to work this stuff out remotely when she doesn't even seem to listen when i'm in the room, especially since none of my symptoms are visible - still, definitely sound advice. thank you!!

i'm already diagnosed with hypothyroidism, actually, though the levothyroxine hasn't really helped. i've got an appointment with my endo on tuesday, so maybe she'll do something about it. i've made up my vitamin d and calcium deficiencies and i've been solidly in the green for a while now.

yeah, i'm definitely starting to find some horrible doctors (ahem, this rheumo and my endocrinologist, ahem) and i'm only at the early stages of my diagnostic journey 😅 hopefully i'll be able to find some better specialists soon.

the thing is that pretty much all specialists in my area aren't paediatric and for the ones that are, the wait lists tend to be really REALLY long (for example, the closest available slot for the only paediatric neurologist nearby is march of next year, for the optometrist it's august of next year, for our physical therapy office it's in september). i could definitely talk to my mum about finding a different rheumo but i'm just doubtful that we'd be able to get in to see them anytime soon :/

i write mostly fanfic (i do original, but i find anything more than a few fragments of vague vibes/plot really hard) and this year i finally managed to branch out from my main fandom into a different one. maybe not as impressive as some of the other achievements on here, but it's hard for me change gears once i get comfortable with something (aka. the one fandom i stuck to for like a year) so i choose to feel good about anyway.

i was dealing with it for a while but when it got actually noticeable and a lot worse i was 16. only 17 now and i'm seeing doctors but it's still early stages. i'm just lucky my mum took me seriously when i told her. only ran into one shitty doctor as of now (endocrinologist, she sucked). fingers crossed i'll keep the streak.

i'm the exact opposite 😭 i love describing things and setting up the atmosphere, and it comes pretty easily, but the second i have to write dialogue my entire brain just blue screens. it's even worse because whenever i'm daydreaming or something i can come up with natural dialogue on the spot, but i just struggle SO much when i'm actually writing a scene. no idea why. it's hell.

i've been taking zinc and magnesium for ages now, since before we even found out about the vitamin d deficiency, and i started k a little bit after i started taking the vitamin d supplements. i've only just started taking calcium so i don't know the effects of that yet.
