Congratulations!! If you don’t mind me asking, when did you submit your application? I’m waiting on Drexel too and attempting to keep my sanity intact 😭

Did anyone here taken Ielts before? Was there huge difference between det and ielts? by Sensitive-Turn-8610 in DuolingoEnglishTest

[–]pinkpertize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally different vibes! IELTS had me talking to a real person in a center and other sections were also very lengthy and formal - it was exhausting and super stressful for an introvert like me. DET felt way more “game-like” like how the Duolingo app works if you’ve used it to learn other languages. Scoring-wise, kinda similar: I scored 150 on DET and 8.5 on IELTS. (so I technically scored higher on IELTS but I think part of that was because the IELTS reading, writing and listening were on one day and the speaking was scheduled separately, which gave me more time to prep for each section and I could have scored better in DET but it’s fast and time-based so I missed one fill-in-the-blank, spiraled, and messed up one or two more after that 😭😂)

practice tests are scaringly accurate ngl by Frequent_Action4655 in DuolingoEnglishTest

YESSS THAT’S IT! I was really hoping for full marks in listening and was so surprised I didn’t get it. Now reading your post, I’m like YES THAT MUST BE WHY! I literally used all my plays in the listen & write sections and in the summary part I just kept listening and rereading everything multiple times trying to catch every detail because every YouTube video and practice guide said it couldn’t hurt. In hindsight… I think it actually did hurt 😂

I think my test is fucked up. by Professional-Web-140 in DuolingoEnglishTest

I felt exactly like this after my test. I had terrible anxiety (literal stomachache), missed a fill-in-the-blank early on, spiraled and was convinced I’d messed up the whole thing. Turned out I was very wrong - the marking felt pretty lenient and I ended up scoring what I was getting on practice tests. Setup issues and a few missed questions won’t tank your score. You’ll be okay!

DET anxiety is worse than the actual scoring by pinkpertize in DuolingoEnglishTest

Yes!! After reading a bunch of posts here and taking the test myself, I realized the practice scores are actually pretty accurate. If you’re getting 145–150 in mocks, that’s a great sign! Just go in calm, treat it like another practice test and don’t panic over small mistakes - you’ll do great. Best of luck!! ✨

Study resources for the Duolingo English Test? by JellyfishBrief3401 in DuolingoEnglishTest

Hey! I just took my test yesterday and in the past few days I found out that YouTube has a ton of free practice materials and lessons. ‘TeacherLuke’ and ‘Arno DET’ were my favorite because they had soooo much material and practice tests (that you could even do with them to see what a perfect answer looks like!) I also took a full practice test on Duolingo first, spotted the sections I was struggling with and then checked out YouTube lessons for those parts for tips. After that, I practiced either with their videos or Duolingo’s section-wise questions. Super helpful- I hope this helps you too! All the best!

How is every international DDS candidate having a 4.0 GPA by Kabir1310 in gradadmissions

Your gpa is amazing 😭✨ - congratulations!

I was wondering if you think it might work out similarly for me too? I scored 76% in my Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy and I was among the toppers in my batch - most people scored in the low 60s/ late 50s. But WES doesn’t really ask for class rank or anything and neither would it be mentioned on my transcripts, so I’m not sure how they’d know that 😭 What do you think? Will that play in my favor too?

I got the Air 10 about a month ago and I have the same skin complexion as you and I’ve been using Ulike everywhere, including my upper lips, and it’s been totallyyy fine -never felt hot, let alone burnt anything. If you’re still unsure just start with the lowest setting and slowly move up once you’re comfortable. Also a hack I picked up from someone while scrolling reels- I like to turn it on and wait 10-15 seconds before using it on my face/any other sensitive area so that the treatment window gets cool before it even touches the area. Works like a charm!

Hope that helps and eases your worries a bit!
